Giratina ex Has Finally Been Dethroned In Pokemon TCG Pocket’s Celestial Guardians Meta
Summary
- Two decks have finally surpassed Giratina ex and Darkrai ex in the Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket meta.
- The Meowscarada and Decidueye deck counters Giratina ex and Darkrai ex effectively.
- The Fire-type duo of Incineroar ex and Infernape ex is now the top-performing deck with a win rate of 56.92%.
In the weeks following Celestial Guardian's release, Giratina ex has had a chokehold on the Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket meta. Giratina ex and Darkrai ex have ruled the roost for a while, but Giratina's dominance rather unexpectedly continued into Celestial Guardians, with new cards making the Renegade Pokemon even more formidable.

Posts 1As the Celestial Guardians meta has evolved, it seemed like Giratina ex would never be dethroned, but over the last few days, a pair of decks have managed to finally eclipse its win rate.
Two Decks Have Finally Ended Giratina ex's Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket Dominance
According to Limitless TCG, following recent tournaments, two decks have now overtaken Giratina ex and Darkrai ex's win rate, with the Dark/Psychic-type duo now sitting at 53.06 percent.
In second place, with a win percentage of 53.86 percent across almost 4,000 matches, is the Meowscarada and Decidueye deck. It's no surprise to see this deck finally rising to the surface, given the addition of the Rare Candy and the fact that it's set up to perfectly counter Giratina ex and Darkrai ex decks, exposing Darkrai's weakness.
Both cards have low-cost attacks, with Meowscarada able to hit Darkrai ex for 150 damage off just two Grass energies. Decidueye then takes away the option of retreating, as its Pierce the Pain attack deals 100 damage to a damaged opposition Pokemon. With both Pokemon only having a single-energy retreat cost, switching between the two to suit your strategy is easily done, plus with Erika, Lillie, and Leaf Cape, these Pokemon have the power to last the distance.
Interestingly, in first place is a deck that perfectly counters the second-place deck, as it revolves around two Fire-type Pokemon. With a win rate of 56.92, significantly higher than anything else, Incineroar ex and Infernape ex have staked their claim.
While not used anywhere near as much as either the Giratina ex or Meowscarada decks, this duo of Fire-type Pokemon, coupled with the Rare Candy and Lillie is clearly a force to be reckoned with.
The top-five current most successful decks are rounded out by Bannette and Greninja and Decidueye ex and Laurantis, which is a great spread, and shows just how well DeNA has done to keep the meta fresh and diverse.
