Gotham Knights receives its Heroic Assault Mode update tomorrow, finally bringing a full four-player co-op mode to the co-op game featuring four characters. As we found out last month, the game mode will be separate from the main campaign, featuring arena-based combat where our heroes fight through 30 floors of progressively more difficult baddies.

We still don’t know everything about the game mode, such as whether players can bring in their main save file’s character and all their unlocked skills, but we do know one thing now at least: the first Heroic Assault mission will star Starro the Conqueror.

For those who missed the Suicide Squad sequel, Starro the Conqueror is a giant alien starfish that came to earth with the intent of conquering all life and turning humanity into its mindless slaves. Doing so involves Starro ejecting thousands of tiny copies of itself that then wrap around human skulls, burrowing their tentacles into the minds of victims, and then replacing their faces with a giant eyeball. Think of it sort of like Half-Life’s head crabs, only slightly less disgusting.

In the teaser image released by WB Games, Starro seems a bit smaller than its depiction in Suicide Squad. It also seems to be stuck in a containment tank that’s being levitated on an anti-grav platform being carried by the four Gotham Knights through a research lab that has suffered a partial Starro outbreak. Starro’s starfished minions are coming at the Knights from all directions, likely implying Heroic Assault will involve beating these unfortunately mind-controlled humans back.

We’ll find out for sure when Heroic Assault arrives in Gotham Knights tomorrow at 8 AM PT (11 AM ET).

In case you've been interested in Gotham Knights but didn't want to spend $70 on a brand-new game, Gotham Knights is now 40% off thanks to Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales. This quick sale is perhaps indicative of a troubled launch marred by mediocre reviews and technical issues, but WB's loss is your gain, for the next 24 hours.
