Summary
- Hunter x Hunter's first fighting game, Nen x Impact, has been delayed to 2025.
- Only a few months ago, publisher System Works announced that the upcoming 2D 3v3 fighter would launch this year, but the team has decided to push it back so that it can add rollback netcode for smoother gameplay.
Guilty Gear and Dragon Ball FighterZ publisher System Works recently announced that Hunter x Hunter's first-ever fighting game, Nen x Impact, would be launching later this year. But just three months later, it has delayed the game to 2025.
"We sincerely apologise for the trouble caused by this delay to the players who are looking forward to the game's release," the production team said in its statement. "This delay is so that we will be able to implement rollback netcode for release.
Without getting too technical on how it works, rollback netcode synchronises the inputs of each opponent, showing each action immediately for more responsive gameplay.
"We made this decision out of concern that players would not be able to fully enjoy the game in a state where some players would encounter issues with online play, given the nature of fighting games. The release date will be announced at a later time."

Casual fans aren't impressed with the graphics, but those lucky enough to play Nen Impact are really into it.
PostsOur own Training & Development Editor Axel Nicolás Bosso got to try Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact firsthand this year during Gamescom, describing it as a "solid 3v3 that feels a lot like more classic fighting games due to its tight scheme and the precision you need to perform combos".
However, Bosso still doesn't think that the game will appeal to a wider audience, saying that "its art style is nothing special" and that "its gameplay systems will have a rough time grabbing newcomers". We'll find out for ourselves next year.
