Today marks a legendary triumph for Super Earth. The Democracy Space Station is now operational, offering humanity a tactical edge in their endless struggle against the Terminids and Automatons. This announcement comes after weeks of players completing major orders to facilitate the construction of the space station - thankfully, their hard work has been adequately rewarded. Helldivers 2 players can now expect some orbital support on the planet above which the space station is floating.
This splendid news is courtesy of a Ministry of Truth-approved message that appeared on social media. According to the broadcast, the space station has already test-fired, obliterating a small moon in an apparent show of force by the military of Super Earth. "The Democracy Space Station has completed its first test fire, successfully destroying a small moon. It is now ready to enter operation. Staffed by over 1.5 million personnel, and costing over a billion super credits a day to operate, the DSS is expected to make an immediate and significant impact to the galactic war," the announcement states.
Immediate Impact
The space station is currently active in-game and is accessible via the galaxy map. In a true display of managed democracy, players can vote on where the Democracy Space Station is positioned, with players currently favouring Mastia, a planet that recently fell to the Automatons.
The Democracy Space Station provides support to ground troops in the form of tactical actions. There are currently three: Planetary Bombardment drops orbital bombardments on enemies throughout the mission and Eagle Storm operates similarly, except with eagle airstrikes rather than orbital ones. The final tactical action is the Orbital Blockade, which provides anti-ship missiles that target enemy spacecraft trying to leave a planet's atmosphere.
These tactical actions are funded by players via samples and republic points. If I know the Helldivers 2 community, they should have no problem getting these supports funded - a good Helldiver uses everything at their disposal in the fight for liberation and democracy.
Helldivers 2 has seen an uptick in players since the implementation of Arrowhead's 60-day plan, an effort by the developer to openly communicate with the community and undo unpopular balance changes, which, in the eyes of the community, was done for the sake of balance at the expense of fun.
