Hello Puppets: Midnight Show - Riley Ruckus' Puzzle Complete Guide
Depending on puppets to do your bidding is never a good idea, and Hello Puppets: Midnight Show is the perfect example of that. In the first act of the game, the main character uses a magical book to bring Mortimer, his favorite puppet, to life. The trouble begins when Owen doesn't have time to play with Mortimer.

Mortimer uses the same book to give consciousness to the rest of the handeemen and traps Owen in his office until he solves all the required puzzles. Riley Ruckus' realm is one of these puzzle rooms, and you're only getting out of it if you know your math.
An Introduction To Riley Ruckus' Peer Reviewed Double Blind Nightmare
Apart from the giant name of this realm, everything else about it is quite cool. Riley Ruckus is an avid researcher, and she's also the only handeemen who refuses to call Owen "Father". Riley is adamant about proving that Owen isn't the reason for their existence so that the rest of the puppets can hate him as well.
After finishing the first few cutscenes in the game, you'll find yourself with three doors that belong to realms of different handeemen. The game forces you to complete Nick Nack's realm first before you can head into Riley Ruckus' giant lab. The first time you enter this realm, you'll spawn in a tiny room where you have to solve a small puzzle.
This puzzle is similar to the starting puzzle in Nick Nack's realm, but there's one difference. For the puzzle in Riley's realm, you have to pick up an AA Battery sitting on the table and place it in the battery compartment of the puzzle to activate it. After opening the compartment, you can rotate the battery to align the side that's sticking out with the positive side.
Once the battery is placed, you can solve this puzzle and open the door to the main area in Riley's lab. Here, you'll be able to see a map of the entire laboratory and a green board beside a curtain on the wall that hides the final puzzle. There are three giant wings in Riley Ruckus' lab.
While these wings are slightly bigger than the wings in other realms, only two of them are open in a certain run. This is to limit the area you need to explore if you want to find all the collectibles. The third wing will be blocked by wooden planks.
You will see multiple circular marks on the map that show the exact locations of essential puzzles in this realm. These circles can be lit up with different colors and here's what they mean:
Color
What It Means
Red
In the beginning, you'll see four to six red colored markers on the map depending on your difficulty. These dots mark the location of the puzzles you have to solve in that particular run. There are a total of 16 essential puzzles scattered across the map.
It'd be painful if you had to do them all, so the game selects the required amount of puzzles randomly.
Yellow
If you've finished a certain essential puzzle but left the number inside the unlocked glass panel, it turns yellow.
Green
After solving the puzzle and taking the number inside the panel, the light turns green.
The light can go back from green to yellow if the number goes back to its original location by any means. Moreover, if the marker on the map isn't lit up with any color, you can completely ignore them.
How To Solve The Exclusive Puzzle In Riley Ruckus' Lab
Being a horror puzzle game, you'll find a different puzzle at every turn in Riley Ruckus' realm. These puzzles can be of three different types:
Essential Puzzles
These puzzles are signified by the red dot on the map, and you're required to finish them if you want to get the final puzzle.
Optional Puzzles
There are many optional puzzles scattered across Riley's lab that can give you different items, collectibles, and Gold Coins. Most optional puzzles are chests that you can unlock in different ways.
Hidden Puzzle
There is one hidden puzzle every time you head inside Riley Ruckus' realm. This puzzle can either be the puppet inside a booth that asks for three specific items, or a laser that you need to reflect from different mirrors to hit a target.
The essential puzzles you get are randomly selected from eight different kinds of puzzles. Seven of these puzzles are shared across all handeemen realms, but Riley has one exclusive puzzle that only exists for the math geniuses that dare step into her lab. This puzzle has Riley's face on top of it as well.
When you start the puzzle, a math problem will be displayed on the yellow bar involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. You have to solve the problem and select the correct option from the five choices. Both the math problems and the options get harder as your difficulty is increased.
You'll start having problems with up to three mathematical symbols on higher difficulties, and the options will be close together. This makes it harder to guess the correct answer when you're running against a clock.
You have to get a certain number of correct answers in a row to get through the puzzle and get the number inside the panel.
How To Solve The Final Riley Ruckus Puzzle
Once you've solved all the essential puzzles on the map and placed the numbers on the green board, the curtains to the final puzzle will be lifted. The new board will have one or two lines of white boxes and a number at the end. You need to place the correct numbers in these boxes to make the solution on the left side equal to the number on the right side.
As soon as you've used the correct numbers on the correct boxes, the exit door will open giving you a free escape.
Riley Ruckus' Special Performance
From the second time you head into Riley's realm, she'll start having special performances at regular intervals. When this happens, her icon on the bottom right will turn red and the location of the performance will be shown at the top of your screen. All you have to do is go there and get near the puppet to start.
After turning the wheel, Riley will ask you a multiple-choice question. Being unable to attend the performance or giving the wrong answer to the question will trigger Vengeance. On higher difficulties, the puppet will also hide from the main character, and Vengeance triggers if you can't find them before the timer runs out.
During Vengeance, Riley Ruckus will be faster than normal, and you wouldn't be able to escape her easily if she locates you. Moreover, if you have the cards saved on the green board in the main area, she'll steal one of them and put it in the original position.
Tips To Beat Riley Ruckus' Realm
While Riley Ruckus' realm is quite a head-scratcher, a few tips and tricks can make the process much easier:
- Riley will start placing different laser traps on higher difficulties. The first trap will have random lasers blocking hallways, but you can disable them using the green button nearby. The second trap requires you to follow the path created by the laser if you don't want Riley to know your location.
- The main area in Riley Ruckus' realm is extremely dangerous. If she catches you while solving the final puzzle, it'll be quite hard to escape because of the lack of lockers. Make sure you close all the doors before starting this puzzle so you have time to run and hide.
- Pay attention to the things written on the doors in Wing B. Some of the doors in this wing allow you to enter from only one side. If the puppet finds you in this area, it can be quite hard to escape.
