Hideo Kojima Teases Death Stranding 2 Reveal At The Game Awards
In true Hideo Kojima fashion, he posted a cryptic tweet teasing what many believe to be Death Stranding 2 being announced at The Game Awards. That's beacause host Geoff Keighley responded with a GIF that reads, "Hmm, very interesting", alongside TGA itself with a siren emoji. The tweet has three logos that look to be fictional in-universe companies, with the centrepiece featuring an umbrella as Fragile does in the first game. The first is the "Automated Public Assistance Company" and the third depicts an octopus-like creature filled with what look to be spears.RELATED: We Know About Overdose. What Now?All of this is tied together by Kojima's caption, "Start a new journey", likely referencing Death Stranding 2. It hasn't officially been announced just yet, but lead actor Norman Reedus let it slip during an interview in May when he said, "We just started the second one".
While it's true Kojima fashion to post cryptic tweets, teasing new games, it's also Kojima fashion to invite a whole bunch of fans to debate what the hell he's on about in the comments, and so there are plenty of theories already about what these logos mean for a possible Death Stranding 2.
One of the big theories circulating is that we'll be taking Sam (Norman Reedus' character) out to the ocean, where we'll meet giant mythological-sized octopus monsters, maybe even a hydra. Corroborating this is earlier rumours of Death Stranding 2 being codenamed Ocean, reported back in October.
Another theory is that Death Stranding 2 is set further in the future with a rebuilt America, and each of these logos represents new government entities that have cropped up. If he is appearing at The Game Awards to finally, properly reveal Death Stranding 2, we won't have to wait long to find out if any of these theories hold weight.
The Game Awards 2022 stream live at 12:30am GMT on December 9, only one week from now. Maybe we'll see Norman Reedus go toe-to-toe with the Kraken, or maybe Kojima will pull something completely unexpected out of the box.
