During the early game, Quantum is one of the most important elements in Honkai Star Rail and having at least one Quantum unit can make a huge difference. While characters like Seele and Qingque still aren’t at the top of any tier lists, even after dozens of updates, you can still take advantage of their abilities in battle if you build them properly and pair them with trusty companions.

Quantum remains a powerful pick and building a mono-Quantum team can also prove fruitful in several scenarios. These units can apply Entanglement on enemies to delay their actions, which is a great way to get ahead in battle, especially in long or difficult fights.

8 Xueyi

Path: The Destruction

Destruction characters can be a gamble and Xueyi definitely took the short straw. She must be paired with other characters with a high Break Effect to reach her maximum potential, otherwise she'll just stand in the way. She can also work in a follow-up attack-based team, but Xueyi isn’t anyone’s first choice, as there are many five-star units with better kits.

Since her Ultimate only targets one enemy, you’ll get much better outcomes with other Destruction characters. Additionally, her follow-up attack doesn’t really make a difference, leaving Xueyi lagging behind.

7 Lynx

Path: The Abundance

As a four-star healer, Lynx is very similar to Natasha and you can get both of them for free by simply playing specific portions of the game. Lynx’s most important abilities are her Skill and Ultimate, as these are the ones that can heal her allies. Thanks to her Talent, using them will keep healing one teammate for a couple of turns.

Having a four-star Abundance character like Lynx can be quite useful in Honkai: Star Rail, and here's everything you need to upgrade her.

Lynx is pretty basic for a healer and can’t offer other buffs for her allies unless you unlock her Eidolons, so she shouldn’t be your first pick.

6 Qingque

Path: The Erudition

During the first updates, you could see Qingque placed at both ends of tier lists thanks to the randomness of her gameplay and her Eidolons. Qingque can be a very powerful DPS but that comes at the great cost of all your SP (Skill Points). You have to be very careful of who you pair Qingque with.

However, you can avoid that if you unlock all of her Eidolons. E6 Qingque can recover a SP after using her Skill, which can turn into unlimited power.

5 Jade

Path: The Erudition

Both Jade and Qingque are characters in the Path of The Erudition, which means they specialize in dealing damage to many enemies at once. However, while Qingque is a four-star unit, Jade is a five-star character with better stats and overall damage output.

If you want to see Jade breaking through the endgame content in Honkai: Star Rail, you'll have to put her in some specific teams.

On top of dealing more DMG to enemies, Jade can make one ally the Debt Collector, to increase their SPD and trigger her follow-up attack. This gives her more chances to attack while also improving her Crit DMG but at the cost of her ally’s HP.

4 Seele

Path: The Hunt

The first-ever limited banner character in Honkai Star Rail was on top of the meta for a while thanks to her SPD and DMG output. Seele can take an extra turn immediately after defeating an enemy, which is a game-changer. While other DPS characters can deal a lot more DMG than Seele, she’s still a powerful ally.

The only downside to Seele’s kit is that she needs all your team’s attention, so you should pick the rest of your units based on her needs.

3 Silver Wolf

Path: The Nihility

While other Nihility characters can be powerful damage dealers, Silver Wolf excels in other areas. She can apply different debuffs to enemies during battle, making her a great companion for units like Acheron.

However, her Skill can also implant different weaknesses to enemies for a couple of turns. This means you don’t need to worry about Type match-ups as long as Silver Wolf is by your side. And while the ability is random and can sometimes backfire, it still makes Silver Wolf one of the most versatile characters.

2 Fu Xuan

Path: The Preservation

Fu Xuan remains one of the best sustains in Honkai Star Rail, although she might not look the part at first glance. Her passive abilities increase her allies’ Max HP and keep them safe from crowd-control debuffs. So, while you might not see Fu Xuan healing her allies too often, she’s keeping them in shape, so you don’t have to.

What’s more, her Matrix of Prescience distributes all DMG received, so it’s less likely your characters will receive a killing blow out of nowhere.

1 Sparkle

Path: The Harmony

Since Honkai Star Rail is a turn-based combat RPG, characters that allow players to do more with their actions are the best to stay on top of the meta. Sparkle debuted with the Penacony update to bring foolishness and mystery to the main story and is still the most useful Quantum unit.

That’s because she can also buff her allies’ DMG output with her Skill and passive. Being the only support Quantum character makes Sparkle unique and she's extremely versatile for all kinds of teams.
