Since the first Elder Scrolls game launched on the PC in 1994, the series has become one of the medium's most popular and influential RPGs. Known for their expansive worlds that allow the player to explore them however they choose, each entry brings something unique to the table that either distinguishes them from each other or pushes the genre in a new direction.

Elder Scrolls games are known for their scope and often have so much content that you could feasibly play them for hundreds of hours each. Each adventure is full of seemingly endless possibilities, but if you want to play every game in the series from the beginning, we can help you figure out how long it will take to complete your quest.

We have decided not to include Elder Scrolls Online or any of the mobile games because they are designed to be played indefinitely.

How Long Is Every Main Elder Scrolls Game?

Despite launching back in 1994, there have only been five mainline Elder Scrolls games so far. While that might not seem like a lot, especially compared to other series like Final Fantasy or Assassin's Creed, each title is vast and jam-packed with enough content to keep you busy for hours at a time. For those brave enough to try and complete every game, this is how long it should take to beat every mainline Elder Scrolls adventure.

How Long Is Every Elder Scrolls Expansion And Spin-Off?

While there were a handful of spin-offs during the early success of The Elder Scrolls, the series eventually transitioned to focusing on DLC for the mainline titles when the third entry, Morrowind, launched. Many of these expansions provide you with opportunities to meet new characters and embark on new quests without taking nearly as much time as the main campaign.

How Long Does It Take To Beat Every Elder Scrolls Game?

If you want to play through every main story and expansion in the Elder Scrolls series, it should take you close to 250 hours to accomplish your goal. That's a surprisingly low number for games that are known for their length, but doing anything aside from your main quest can add a significant amount of time to your playthrough.

For any completionist who plans on collecting every item and weapon while they finish off every piece of side content, it should take you a staggering 1,271 hours. If you accomplish this goal and still have a craving for more Elder Scrolls, the MMO and other games can scratch your itch until the next game eventually arrives.
