While many of the community were quick to rally around the game, given its early access status, a new revelation from the InZoi team has divided its players further, as they disclosed the numerous ways in which generative AI was used during development.

InZoi Development Team Shares List Of AI Uses In The Game

In a new post on InZoi's Steam Page, the game's developers outlined the three major ways in which it used generative AI during InZoi's development. They were:

  • Text to Image Technology
  • 3D Printing AI Technology
  • Video to Motion Technology

It states that all of the AI model training was completed using images and videos owned by the InZoi team or sourced from datasets and pictures available for public use.

This new announcement has split the InZoi community, though.

Many were quick to commend the team for being so transparent with its uses, with sparkle_beach on Reddit saying, "I understand that Inzoi is getting backlash since Inzoi is probably one of the first games to be transparent about using AI (there could be more games though), but a TON of companies have already been using AI or they are in the process of integration." However, there were plenty of other players who strongly disagreed with this sentiment.

It’s also why this game is so uninspired and has no artistry or soul.

"I think the difference [between this and other games that use generative AI] is that InZOI has no real gameplay design. It's just AI content slapped together," said Neuro_Skeptic in response to the previous comment. Later on in the Reddit thread, analogbog shared feelings similar to others' when they said, "It’s also why this game is so uninspired and has no artistry or soul."

You have to commend Krafton for releasing such a statement, but it feels like an unusual move at a time when it needs to unite its audience and not push a segment of them away.
