Summary
- InZoi sold over a million copies in its first week, but suffered a dramatic drop in players over the following weeks.
- The game's peak player count dropped by 85%, averaging 83% fewer players after just two weeks.
- In comparison to other games, InZoi lost players at a much faster rate, ranking in the second-lowest position for player retention.
Ahead of its release last month, InZoi was dubbed 'The Sims killer', and it still might become that, but the early signs for the game have been mixed. The game sold over a million copies within its first week, but the game also helped The Sims 4, propelling it to its highest player count in Steam history.

InZoi's Player Count Has Already Dropped By 85 Percent
It's not unusual for a game to lose players in its first few weeks. In fact, I'd wager 99 percent of games do, as players figure out whether they like what they're playing, potentially completing the game and moving on in that timeframe. But InZoi's drop has been drastic.
On its launch day on March 28, according to SteamDB, InZoi hit a peak concurrent player count of 87,377 — not bad. Fast-forward two weeks, and yesterday, the game capped out at 12,950 players, a drop of 85 percent.
Things don't look any better when taking into account the game's average player count, either. On March 29, the game averaged 63,799 players; yesterday, April 9, it averaged just 10,769. While slightly better, this is still a drop of 83 percent.
Earlier this year, I published a report on how well Marvel Rivals was holding onto its players, losing only three percent over six weeks. This is a perfect indication of just how bad things have gotten for InZoi, with that game losing 83 percent over just two weeks.
In fact, InZoi would rank in the second-lowest position out of every game I tracked.
I've integrated InZoi into my findings from earlier this year so you can check it out yourself:

There is, of course, every possibility that it rebuilds its player count over the next few weeks, but the early signs are not looking too good.
