The Jurassic World Evolution 3 Rebirth DLC brings a new power system and a whole new way to show off your flying reptiles. By giving them the illusion of freedom and much more flying room, your flyers will be much happier in open-air aviaries.

If you want to fill your park or research facility with flying reptiles of all types, you will want to know how to create and maintain your open-air aviaries. Here is everything you need to know about building this new enclosure in Jurassic World Evolution 3.

How To Build Open-Air Aviaries

The Jurassic World Evolution 3 open-air aviary may look similar to the regular aviary enclosure, but this structure actually allows flying reptiles to freely soar and swoop through the aviary to a much greater height. This stops the animals from becoming restless or bored, and reduces the number of creatures destroying their habitats or breaking free.

Instead of using a physical dome to contain the creatures, the open-air aviary has an invisible electromagnetic field that stops flyers leaving the containment area. The major upside to these new aviaries is that they provide a far more appealing look, allowing you to see the flying reptiles from a distance instead of your view being blocked by the dome.

You can disable the appearance of the electromagnetic field on the aviary by clicking on the aviary, then Settings and unchecking the Toggle Barrier Visual button.

Open-air aviaries can be built like any other structure in your park, but are restricted by deep water or uneven terrain such as rocky cliffs. You can make it as large or as small as you please, as long as your creatures have enough space. As you would with the domed aviaries, you can build larger structures by adding more circular aviary pieces to your enclosure.

The larger your aviary, the more creatures you can fit inside, and combining compatible flying reptiles can create some fun color and variety for the enclosure. Some of the best combinations for your aviary includes:

  • Geosternbergia + Pteranodon + Tropeognathus
  • Quetzalcoatlus + Dimorphodon + Tapejara + Caiuajara

The open nature of the aviaries gives you greater freedom to design aesthetically pleasing parks with a variety of tour types and viewing spaces. The best viewing spaces for guests at aviaries like this are Viewing Platforms, Aviary Viewing Galleries, and Balloon Tours. With these, you can see a lot of the environment throughout the aviaries and the flying reptiles inside.

There are a few things you can do to make your open-air aviaries more interesting, including adding rocky scenery pieces to the outer walls of the structure. This adds a semblance of nature to the aviary, replacing the man-made walls with stone and rock. You can also alter the terrain quite drastically inside the aviary, creating huge rocky hills or high terrain platforms.

By adding height and deep water, you can create waterfalls within your aviary, which brings movement and life to the structure that you couldn't easily achieve in an enclosed dome aviary.
