The estimated file size for the Kingdom Hearts 1-3 Collection is a whopping 131GB, which means that it'll take up more than half of your Switch 2's storage space to have every game installed.

After the awful drought that was the past four years of Kingdom Hearts news, the past few weeks have finally started to give fans something to look forward to. A brand-new Kingdom Hearts 4 trailer was obviously the biggest bit of news, but the long-awaited announcement of a true native port of the whole Kingdom Hearts collection for Switch 2 was also incredibly exciting.

Kingdom Hearts fans have been dying for a proper way to play the series on Switch after the dreadful Cloud Editions, and that's exactly what the collection will let us do. There is one sadly unavoidable but still notable issue with bringing such a massive collection to the Switch 2, though, and that's the eyewatering file size that's recently been confirmed by Nintendo.

Kingdom Hearts 1-3 Collection Will Take Up 131GB, And KH3 Surprisingly Isn't To Blame

The Game Key Card Makes A Little More Sense Now...

As pointed out by Twitter user Genki_JPN, the official Nintendo store pages for all of the games featured in the Kingdom Hearts 1-3 Collection include their file size. Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 Remix (which is the first game through to Re:Coded) will take up the most at around 54.2GB of space, while Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 has a file size of 26.9GB.

Kingdom Hearts 3, on the other hand, will take up 45.2GB, which is a little less than I expected for the most recent game in the series, especially since that includes ReMind. As Genki_JPN tallied up, the total storage space cost of the Kingdom Hearts 1-3 Collection with everything installed is around a whopping 131GB.

I hate Game Key Cards as much as the rest of you, but at least it makes some sense with a collection this big. You'd have to download a bunch of the contents here whether Game Key Cards were a thing or not.

Since the Switch 2 only comes with just under 250GB of internal storage space, that means the Kingdom Hearts Collection will take up more than half of that if you choose to have every game installed. That's pretty unavoidable with this many games in one collection, but you're probably going to want to download and play them one at a time so there's room for other games.
