With Max Caufield being a photographer, it makes sense that one of the collectible options is to take snapshots of various items and characters in Life Is Strange: Double Exposure.

PostsMany of these snapshots will happen during the natural course of the story, but there are many others that are completely missable, and even a few that will only appear when you make certain choices in the game. If you're trying to unlock the Frame Fatale achievement/trophy, here's your guide to how to get every single snapshot in the game.
All Chapter 1 Snapshot Locations
The first few snapshots will be taken with Max's DSLR camera. Starting with the photo of Amanda, all snapshots will be taken with the Polaroid camera.
To count for the achievement/trophy, every snapshot that has the Double Exposure option should be taken with Double Exposure.

#2 - Wall stain

There's a stain on the wall as you begin looking around the bowling alley.
#3 - Bowling lanes
Out of the Gutter
Walk further into the bowling alley and keep going straight till you get the option to take a snapshot of the lanes. This and the wall stain are part of the "Photograph the bowling alley" objective and are required to move the story forward.
#4 - Shoe Rack
Out of the Gutter
Before using the left shoe rack to climb up, go to the shoe rack on the right and take a snapshot of the shoes and the Nebb plush.
#5 - Hanging Nebula

Story related - unmissable.
#6 - Moses
Things Are Looking Up
On the observatory rooftop, take a snapshot of Moses with his telescopes. Here you can have him change poses before you take the photo.
#7 - Safi
Things Are Looking Up
On the observatory rooftop, over by the railing. She'll be writing in her poetry book and she'll try to avoid the camera. She will cycle through various poses naturally, so just be patient until you see a pose you want to capture.
#8 - Amanda
Upstairs, Downcast
Amanda comes to visit Max after Safi's death, and tells Max to take a picture. This is unmissable, and is the first time that Double Exposure is an option.
All Chapter 2 Snapshot Locations
There are eight snapshots total to take in Chapter 2, including missable and unmissable ones. Some of them you'll find in the Living World, others in Dead World, so pay attention to what world you're in.

After the conversation with Safi and Yasmin, Max will stand up so you can investigate the timeline. Before you leave, turn around and take a snapshot of Safi and Yasmin.
#10 - Snow David

When you arrive at campus in Living World, there's a snow version of the David sculpture. It's on the far side of the north quad near the frozen pond.
#11 - Dual Tone Phone Booth
By the Horns
Living
In the FAB is Diamond's art project, a Dual Tone Phone Booth where people can talk to the future and hear from the past.
#12 - Bookend
By the Horns
Dead
Inside Gwen's office, there's a bookend of a possum on the bookshelf by her desk. You have to enter the office in Living World, then shift to Dead World to take the snapshot.
#13 - Expo cutout
By the Horns
Dead
After vandalizing Lucas' cutout for the expo, turn around and take a snapshot and post it before telling him about the damage. You may need to take a snapshot of both the devil and the black eye to count.
#14 - Vinh
By the Horns

While in Dead World, go to the Admin building to find Vinh drinking and looking at tarot cards. Before you talk to him, you'll have the option to take a snapshot of him.
#15 - Mug Tree
Leaving Nothing Overlooked
Living
On your way up to the Overlook, you'll have to shift back and forth several times. The first time is to get past the security officer. When you do, before heading up the trail, turn back down towards the picnic tables and you'll find a tree with Safi's mug fused to it. Look at it first, then take a snapshot.
#16 - Gemini Mural
Avoiding Detection

When you're trying to find Safi's Camera in Dead World Moses' office, on the wall near the telescope supplies is a Gemini mural that he painted after Safi died. To take the snapshot, go up the stairs to the loft, and you'll find a Photo Spot that prompts you to take the snapshot.
If you have the Cat Content DLC, during the final scene in Chapter 2, the cat will show up at Max's house in Living World. You'll need to shift there, then let the cat in. After setting up a pillow for the cat, it'll sit on it, then the game will give you the option to take a snapshot. This is optional and doesn't count for the Frame Fatale achievement/trophy.
All Chapter 3 Snapshot Locations
The majority of the Chapter 3 snapshots will be found in Dead World and all are completely missable if you're not paying attention. Luckily, the locations are in areas you'll be for the main story, so you shouldn't have to go out of your way to get these snapshots.

#17 - Snowdrop Flowers

When you go to the Overlook to wait for Moses you can take a snapshot of the snowdrop flowers at the crime scene that are in the shape of Safi's body.
#18 - FAB Tree

In the FAB, there's a tree over by the Cafe area. Behind the tree is a stained-glass window that will prompt you to take a snapshot. When you do, Max says she needs a better angle, and this will trigger the Photo spot to appear over by the blue benches. Go to the spot and take a snapshot of the tree and windows.
#19 - Record Player

Go into Gwen's office and, before you talk to her, you can take a snapshot of the vintage record player at the back of the office, by the fish tank.
#20 - Hedgehog

While you're in Admin, shift to Dead World and go to Vinh's desk. You'll find that he pieced the ceramic Hedgehog back together. Take a snapshot of the Hedgehog.
#21 - Golden Typewriter

After speaking with Vinh, your next task is to talk to Lucas Colmenero. No matter how he feels towards you, you'll have to investigate his office in Dead World. The golden typewriter holds the information you need, but before you do that, take a snapshot of the typewriter.
#22 - Vinh
Nobody Wants To Drink Alone
Dead
After playing "Smash or Pass" with Vinh, whether you decide to kiss him or not, you'll be presented with the option to take a snapshot of him.
#23 - Amanda
Nobody Wants To Drink Alone
Living
Go on the imaginary date/hangout with Amanda first to get the Snapshot option. If you don't spend time with her during this scene you won't be able to get the snapshot.
Again, if you have the Cat Content DLC, you get another snapshot option during the last scene of Chapter 3. When you get home and find someone has broken in, before investigating the intruder, you'll find the cat hiding on top of the fridge, scared. Here you can take a snapshot of the cat.

PostsAll Chapter 4 Snapshot Locations
Chapter 4 has the fewest Snapshot options compared to other chapters, and every single one of them you can get in the second scene of the chapter.
In the beginning of chapter 4, you can get another DLC snapshot. When you go upstairs to change out of your wet clothes, you'll find the cat resting on the bed. You'll get plenty of interaction options, including taking a snapshot.

By the front door of the Snapping Turtle, you can take a snapshot of an Abraxas Kid wearing the Krampus mask.
#25 - Stage

After taking the snapshot of the Abraxas Kid, go over to the stage and take a snapshot of that as well. When you press the prompt, Max will say she needs to change the framing. Just step back a little bit into the Photo Spot that just got triggered, and use that to take the snapshot.
#26 - Diamond and Moses
No Party Like a Krampus Party
Living
Diamond and Moses are sitting at the booth by the back door of the Turtle. Talk to them first, then after the conversation is over you'll get the option to take a snapshot.
#27 - Gingerbread House
No Party Like a Krampus Party
Dead
After getting Living World Moses stationed at the projector instead of Reggie, you'll get a side quest where you can help Dead World Moses find a chimney for his gingerbread house. Once the house is complete, you'll get the option to take the snapshot.
All Chapter 5 Snapshot Locations
The final chapter has several snapshots that are part of the story where you have to use Double Exposure. Then, later in the chapter, a few of the snapshots are dependent on earlier choices in chapters three and four.

This is unmissable and part of the story. You have to remove Safi from Moses using Double Exposure when you take a photo.
#29 - Lucas
Uncanny Alley
After you find your way down to Lucas in the bowling alley, you realize that Safi is inside him, just like she was with Moses earlier. After trying to talk to Lucas, you can take a snapshot and use Double Exposure to remove Safi.
#30 - Gwen
Checkout Time
After the sequence with the hotel rooms, you'll find yourself back at the Snapping Turtle. Go outside to talk to Gwen, and take a snapshot with Double Exposure to remove Safi.
#31 - Reggie
Back Together Again
If you kissed Vinh, when you arrive in the North Quad after the storm, you'll find Reggie and Loretta talking in the Pergola. After you talk to Reggie, take a photo of him.
#32 - Loretta
Back Together Again
Talk to Loretta first, then you'll be able to take a snapshot.
#33 - Caledon Statue
Back Together Again
On your way to join the others at the Snapping Turtle, stop at the Caledon Statue in the North Quad and take a snapshot. After you press the prompt, Max will say her position is off and the Photo Spot, to your left, will open up for you to take the snapshot from.
#34 - Moses
Back Together Again
After you talk with Moses and before talking with the others, turn around and take a snapshot of him.
#35 - Vinh OR Vinh and Reggie
Back Together Again
If you kissed Vinh in Chapter 3, Vinh will be at the Turtle by himself. If you did not, Vinh will be there with Reggie. This will determine if your snapshot is of just Vinh, or if it's of Vinh and Reggie.
#36 - Gwen
Back Together Again
There's a chance that this option won't show up for you, depending on how you handled the footage situation. If you gave the thumb drive back to Gwen in Chapter 3 and encouraged her to fight it, she'll stay and try to get her job back, and she'll be at the Turtle in the final chapter. If you did not, however, she won't show up.

Talk to Amanda, then take a photo.
#38 - Diamond

Talk to Diamond, then take a photo.
There is sometimes a glitch where snapshots obtained across multiple save files aren't recorded correctly. To fix this, delete your extra save files, then go back through all the snapshots in Explore mode. Make sure in this save file you did not kiss Vinh and you gave Gwen the thumb drive.
