Life Is Strange: Double Exposure Lets You Decide Chloe And Max's Relationship
Summary
- Ever since Life is Strange: Double Exposure was revealed, fans have wondered how it would handle Chloe Price.
- As it turns out, players actually get to choose whether Max and Chloe were in a relationship or just friends.
- That's not the only choice players can make about Chloe in the first two episodes of Double Exposure.
Chloe might not be an active part of Life is Strange: Double Exposure's story, but the player can still determine what kind of effect she had on Max's life prior to her time at Caledon University.
From the moment it was revealed that the next Life is Strange game from Deck Nine would be bringing back Max Caufield, everyone had the exact same question - how the heck will that work with the original game's wildly different endings? Not only would the new game need to canonise Arcadia Bay's fate, but it'd also need to decide what happened to Chloe and explain where she is now.

Posts By Andrew KingDeck Nine quickly made it clear that Chloe wasn't going to be a part of Double Exposure's story, but that just raised more questions about the game's canon, which ending it goes for, and, most importantly, Chloe and Max's relationship. As it turns out, though, the latest Life is Strange game respects both endings and actually lets you pick what happened.
Mild spoilers for Life is Strange: Double Exposure's first episode.
Life Is Strange: Double Exposure Leaves Chloe's Fate Up To You
Although Life is Strange: Double Exposure doesn't fully launch until the end of the month, its first two episodes have been released as part of the Deluxe Edition's early access. As such, that means that select players can already jump in and start making big decisions about Max's journey after the first Life is Strange.
One such big decision happens quite early on in Double Exposure, as Safi asks Max about a photo of a blue-haired girl she keeps in her wallet. At this point, players can decide whether Max and Chloe were just friends or if they were "high-school sweethearts". No judgement, but it's obviously the latter.
That's not all, though, as the conversation with Safi also lets players determine whether Chloe lived through the events of the first Life is Strange or whether she ended up dying. This is a not-so-subtle way of letting players choose which ending they went for in Max's first adventure, as Max either saves all of Arcadia Bay or chooses to live her life with Chloe.
Once again, it's a very easy choice to make - Chloe and Max 4 eva.
Although it's nice to give players a chance to let Chloe live, it seems that her and Max aren't exactly on the best terms, as you can find a break-up letter from Chloe in Max's room if you decide that the two were romantically involved. Deck Nine clearly has a lot of guts in deciding what happened to Max after Life is Strange, and it'll be interesting to see where it goes in later episodes.
