Lonesome Village marries together challenging puzzle-solving and life sim elements, and as part of that, you meet a range of adorable animal characters along the way. The village of Lonesome is home to a variety of different animal species, each with charming character designs that help to bring the world to life.

As you rescue them from each level of the tower, they return to their homes in the village, or in the other surrounding areas, such as the beach, swamp or even the desert. While all of these characters have distinct designs that fit in with the game’s wholesome aesthetic, there are some who absolutely take that cuteness to the next level.
10 Purrfect Villager: Catniss
One of the first villagers you rescue in the game, Catniss is a calico cat, though her striped tail and the brown patches around her eyes almost make her resemble a raccoon, too. Her first request is for you to find fish for her sister’s dinner, showing what a kind sibling she is.
Soon after, though, she tells you that she and her sister are bored and in need of some entertainment. What else does she request of you but a classic cat toy resembling a fishing rod with feathers at the end? She’s a simple cat, with simple needs.
9 Green Thumb: Minerva
The daughter of Row who owns the rare goods shop in the village, Minerva is a baby raven who wears a pink polka dot dress and has tufts of feathers curling around her face. Just like her father, who’s fond of precious and shiny things, Minerva also has a passion — flowers.
After you rescue Minerva and her father from the tower, she’ll ask you to grow some flowers for her, so that she can decorate her room. Once you give her those, she’ll request even more flowers from you. With how long gardening can take in this game, Minerva’s lucky she’s so cute.
8 Stylish Little Mouse: Lulu
One thing you can do in Lonesome Village is decorate your house, and Lulu is the one who teaches you how to do just that. And as Tom’s wife, who owns the furniture store, it only makes sense that she knows all about home interiors.

Aside from her home decorating sensibilities, Lulu has an adorable design herself. She’s a little black mouse with pink ears, and a sweet nose shaped just like a heart — what’s not to love? She also has what looks like pearl earrings, so her sense of style clearly expands to fashion, too.
7 Jungle Photographer: Mephis
While jungles in the real world are home to ferocious tigers, the jungle in Lonesome Village is home to a sweet ginger cat, Mephis. Dressed in an explorer’s hat and outfit, complete with a belt for his trusty camera, Mephis is ready to explore the jungle to its fullest.
If you bump into Mephis during the day, you’ll often catch him taking photos of all the natural wonders of the jungle. It’s a rather sweet and fitting hobby for a cat to have, as they’re such curious creatures in real life.
6 Studious Raccoon: Rocky
Rocky the raccoon lives in a house in the forest alongside his bear friend, surrounded by the books they need to study. Rocky’s design is typical of a raccoon, but there’s one stark difference — he has no pupils, and just has white eyes. That doesn’t make him any less cute, though, and in turn, makes him stand out among the other traditionally designed animals.
His outfit is simple, as he wears a red zipped hoodie, but no one’s expecting the heights of fashion from a student. He’s in his comfies, ready to study with his best pal, and nothing can be better than that.
5 Hanging Out: Timothee
Often seen wandering around the graveyard in the forest, Timothee is a purple bat with large, pink ears and a heart-shaped snout. He shares his house with Mocty, who also tends to roam between the graves. As there’s no bed in the house, you can only presume that Timothee sleeps in the coffin. (...Is he secretly a vampire? We’ll never know.)

Despite having the rather grim jobs of tending the graveyard, both Timothee and Mocty are sweet animals, clearly caring to keep the resting places of those in the village who have passed in good shape.
4 Amphibian Archer: Nimi
Though he might be overshadowed by the intimidating presence of the frog king, Nimi is one of the king’s subjects, and a charming one at that. He wears an eyepatch over one eye and carries a bow and arrows. Although, as there’s no combat in Lonesome Village, this begs the question — who exactly does Nimi plan to aim his arrows at? And how did he wind up with an eye patch?
But with such a sweet face, Nimi evades all these suspicions. The bow and arrows are probably just for self-defence (all the villagers did just get trapped in a tower, after all), and the eye patch? Well, perhaps he just thinks they’re cool.
3 She’ll Put A Spell On You: Sabrina
Most likely taking inspiration from Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Sabrina is a black cat with yellow-orange eyes, and she wears a stylish witch outfit, complete with a hat that her ears poke through. Sabrina lives with Ms. Sue, an owl who also has a penchant for spells and magic.
Her entire design perfectly matches the witchcraft theme, and she can often be seen holding apothecary jars, perhaps helping Ms. Sue to brew potions, or creating mysterious concoctions of her own.
2 History Lover: Caly
Caly is a border collie who lives up in the mountains next to Lonesome Village. She’s fond of history, as you can tell by the knight-like costume she wears and the historical artefacts that surround her home. You can often find her brandishing a rather powerful-looking battleaxe, but don’t worry, she just likes it for the history. Really.

She also seems to be a fan of the Legend of Zelda series, as she asks you to find her a set of swords and a shield, with the shield being a spitting image of the Hylian shield. When she gets her hands on those treasures, she’s going to give Wolf Link a run for his money.
1 Heroic Coyote: Wes
Wes is the main character of Lonesome Village, tasked with solving the puzzles of the tower and helping out the villagers once he’s rescued them. His design, based on a coyote, is adorable, to say the least, with tiny dotted eyebrows and a fluffy tail.
Throughout the game, you can buy clothes to customise his outfits, but his default blue coat and yellow boots are charming enough on their own. You don’t often see coyotes represented in video games, and you certainly don’t see them this cute.
