Can't Decide Which Camp Upgrades To Get In Lost Castle 2? Here Are Our Suggestions
Lost Castle 2 is a new indie roguelike that has finally entered its 1.0 version. This beat'em up tasks you with fighting through hordes of enemies to reach a mysterious castle that's guarded by a demon lord. Similar to other games in this genre, death often comes with the loss of your current build, weapons, and most items you've picked up on the way.
However, you can improve your chances each run via camp upgrades, which will impact not only your stats, but also open up more opportunities during a run. However, unlocking upgrades can be a bit of a slow process, so here are my recommendations for which ones you should snag first.
How To Unlock Camp Upgrades
To unlock the actual camp upgrade system, you will need to proceed through the prologue until you're defeated and sent back to camp. When this happens, head to the right and leave camp to begin another run. Whether you succeed or not in that run is irrelevant, as upon your return you can speak with the builder Armstrong, who is in the northwest corner of your camp.
He will walk you through the upgrade system, which consists of three skill trees. Each skill can be purchased with gold you earn on a run, sometimes multiple times to increase the potency of the effects. As you unlock more upgrades, you will gain access to the middle and right skill trees.
For every purchase you make in a skill tree, you will increase your Camp Level. Meaning, if I have bought 12 upgrades, then my Camp Level is also 12. Further improving an already purchased upgrade, such as the Advanced Anvil skill, will also increase your Camp Level.

Advanced Anvil — Left Skill Tree
Unsurprisingly, one of the best upgrades to snag early on is the Advanced Anvil, which will increase your base attack and throwing damage. This can be increased up to five times, which gives you a final damage buff of 5 for the base attack and 25% throwing damage on any item you pick up. Given how tanky some of the foes in the latter regions can be, you will want to purchase this skill as soon as possible to ensure you can quickly dispatch enemies.
Ethereal Armory Interference — Left Skill Tree
Another upgrade in the left skill tree, the Ethereal Armory Interference, will increase your chances of coming across an Epic or Legendary enchantment during all of your subsequent runs. These passive buffs can make a huge difference in how successful an attempt is, as they often provide you with increased damage, needed utility, or the ability to just survive during battles.
Improving the quality of the ones you find can make a lot of the regions, especially some of the earlier ones, much less of a headache to endure, as you won't be as reliant on getting
Physique Potion — Middle Skill Tree
Similar to the Advanced Anvil, the Physique Potion will improve your max health and the amount of Injury HP you can recover. Improving your overall survivability is essential in a game like Lost Castle 2 — especially when you face some of the later bosses that absolutely spam screen-wide attacks you need to dodge. This can be upgraded up to five times, and I suggest maxing out this skill.
Expanded Amulet — Middle Skill Tree
A simple upgrade, unlocking this will give you a second Alchemy Amulet. These are items you obtain after beating the various bosses throughout the game, and they provide additional passive benefits that will increase your power. Being able to have two equipped at any time will give you greater control over your build or preferred playstyle. There are two of these in the middle skill tree, which can give you a max of three amulets active at any time. Make sure to grab both of them!
Repair The Forge Room — Left Skill Tree
When acquired, this upgrade will cause the weapons you can pick from before heading into a run to be of a higher quality. This not only means they will do slightly more damage, but also come with critical perks such as the Miasma Arrow or Shadow Attack. While in the long term of a run this may not be as useful, it can be great for beginners who are struggling to get beyond the first couple regions or to put a build together.
Emergency Mechanism — Middle Skill Tree
One of the best skills in the game, the Emergency Mechanism, gives you two extra lives if you should perish during a run. Upon your death, you will revive with 25% of your health and refill 35% of your elixir, which will let you heal even more. This will trigger only once in multiplayer, but that can still make all the difference once you start playing at the higher difficulties. In a game where dying is so punishing, being able to keep going after a mistake is a huge advantage and one you should unlock as soon as possible.
Soul Crystal Flask — Right Skill Tree
Soul Crystals are the game's in-run currency, which you will use to purchase enchantments, armor, potions, and weapons. It's a critical resource, and the Soul Crystal Flask simply ensures you are making more as you progress from area to area. The extra amount you earn can add up quickly, giving you better access to the items sold in shops.
Alchemist's Hut And Expanded Elixir Vial — Middle Skill Tree
I'm cheating a little with this last entry, as I'm combining these two skills since they both do the same thing. Your elixir is your health potion, which is a finite resource that can only be refilled a few times during a run. Because of this, increasing its overall size will improve your survivability and make sure you can quickly recover if you take a ton of damage during a critical fight.
