Lost Castle 2 is a new roguelike that has been released in its 1.0 version. You play as a treasure hunter who is attempting to fight through hordes of enemies to defeat a demon lord atop the massive Black Castle. Throughout this journey, you'll encounter all manner of monsters, some of which are easier to bring down than others.

One of the bosses you'll battle is the Alchemist Eugene, who can be found in the Abandoned Village region. He can be a bit tricky since this is technically you versus two bosses, which can really punish greedy players. Here is how to defeat the Alchemist Eugene, so you can progress to the Crystal Mountain.

How To Defeat Alchemist Eugene

When the fight begins, Eugene will summon a massive zombie assistant called "Mad Dog" Bobby. This brute will be your first priority, as he will apply a ton of pressure during the fight and relentlessly chase you around the arena. Eugene will also hurl explosive potions at you while you're fighting Bobby, which means you'll always want to keep moving; otherwise, it's easy to take a ton of burst damage in this fight.

Bobby has a couple of different attacks, but his most common sees him charging you in a straight line, swinging wildly in front of him. He will repeat this move up to three times, with the final charge causing Bobby to run out of steam and collapse. It's this window that you want to deal as much damage as possible, since he will be completely immobile.

He also has a frontal slam, but he doesn't use this frequently and prefers to charge at you. Because of this, you will want to play defensively at the start and constantly keep on the move. Only focus on attacking Bobby when he is recovering from his charge, as this will ensure he cannot pin you in a corner. Any weapon or skill that can deal a ton of burst damage is great for this, such as the dual blades' dash attack.

During this section, Eugene will throw out two different types of potions. The first are colored red and are fast-moving potions that instantly explode on impact. These are often clustered together in a small group and are hurled with remarkable speed. To avoid them, simply don't stand where the pink circles are before impact.

His other attack has him throwing up large clusters of green potions, which leave a lingering poison cloud or pool for a couple of seconds. These are much more common than the explosive red ones, as Eugene will use them to control and deny you space to dodge Bobby. They can be a bit annoying, since Eugene will sometimes throw them right on Bobby when he is tired. If this happens, don't bother attacking because the continuous damage isn't worth it unless you can kill Bobby right there.

Once Bobby is felled, do not waste time and immediately go to Eugene and start smacking him. The Alchemist will go into a fit of rage at the sight of Bobby being killed, making him briefly immobile and unable to attack. Use this opening to deal as much burst damage as possible, before quickly switching to playing defensively.

When Eugene finally starts attacking, do not bother trying to hit him. He will start raining down red and green potions all around the arena. This will be his only attack for the remainder of the fight, but the sheer volume of explosives he throws provides very few openings. Due to this, you want to stay mobile and focus on dodging as much as possible.

Similar to Bobby's charge attack, Eugene will eventually tire himself out for a few seconds. This is your damage window, so make sure to keep an eye on Eugene so you can pounce on him the moment he becomes tired. Keep repeating this process of dodging the flurry of explosives and attacking when he goes to rest to easily finish this boss.

Just like the other bosses, your rewards will include a unique Alchemy Amulet, Black Iron Ore, a boss enchantment, and a piece of their armor to use.
