Lost Castle 2 is a roguelike beat'em up where you play a treasure hunter who is tasked with taking down a demon lord in the Black Castle. During your adventure, you will encounter a variety of different bosses who act as the final challenge in each of the game's regions.

One of these is the Behemoth in the Crystal Mountain, who is one of the trickier bosses in the game due to his screen-wide damage attacks. If you're tired of getting sent back to camp by the Behemoth, here is a walkthrough of how to deal with this massive pile of sentient rocks.

How To Defeat The Behemoth

Phase One

At the start of the fight, you'll notice that your attacks aren't actually doing a lot of damage to the Behemoth. This is due to his weak point on his stomach being covered by a ton of rocks. Because of this, your goal is to shatter that shield so you can both stun the boss and deal a ton of damage to him before he recovers. Similar to the Mutated Priest fight, the Behemoth will be completely immobile during this battle.

Behemoth's main attack in this phase is slamming his fist down directly in front of him, which causes four giant rocks to fall from the ceiling onto the floor. The pattern rotates between a Y, a triangle, and a sideways T shape, with large pink circles marking where the boulders will hit. These hit like a truck, so make sure to always prioritize getting out of the circle's radius the moment they appear.

The Behemoth will also summon a group of pink orbs in the fight, which will hover around the arena. These can either be killed by attacking, or you can pick them up to hurl at the boss for some extra damage. Occasionally, he will summon spiked blue crystals whenever he performs his boulder attack. Just like the orbs, pick these up and throw them at the Behemoth.

If you're using a close-range weapon, you are aiming to attack after he finishes slamming his fists. The final hit will be indicated when he raises both hands above his head. After he hits the ground, there will be a few seconds where the Behemoth is open to be damaged before repeating this barrage.

As for ranged-weapon uses, there's enough time between the sets of boulders that you can continuously attack him. In fact, ranged weapons and abilities in general are amazing for this fight since he never moves, and it's quite safe to just spam arrows or musket rounds at this foe until his shield breaks.

When the shield breaks, quickly grab the large purple orb that drops from the center of the arena. This will turn into an enemy if left unattended long enough, so always start your damage phase by throwing it at the Behemoth. Now, rush over to him and deal as much damage as possible to the large orb protruding from his chest.

Depending on your build, there's a good chance you can reach the 50 percent health threshold to push him to phase two. If not, just repeat the steps above until the boss is sent to the second phase.

Phase Two

Here's where things get a bit trickier, as the Behemoth starts phase two by blowing you back to the far left side of the arena. He will then begin launching screen-wide projectiles, which you will need to dodge while closing the gap to the boss. This will always open with three seismic waves that move across the middle of the arena from right to left in a triangle pattern.

After that, the Behemoth will begin spamming projectiles across the entire floor of the arena. When this starts, do not worry about attacking the boss and strictly focus on dodging everything. The trick to avoiding these is to pay attention to where and when the pink circles appear on the ground.

For example, if he fills the top part of the arena with projectile circles first and then the bottom, you will be safe to stand on the lower circles since they will have a slight delay before the ones above you, which were summoned first. You will often need to stand on a circle to avoid one projectile and then quickly run off the spot you're on a second later to dodge that incoming rock.

The Behemoth will spam around five waves of these screen-wide attacks, so look out for any gaps between the pink circles to stand in, as these can also be safe zones from the falling rubble. Eventually, the Behemoth will run out of steam and resume its normal attack pattern from the first phase.

Don't worry about any orbs or crystals that may fall during this phase, as the boss' attacks will destroy them before you have a chance to grab and throw them.

Due to this, you need to just play your life during the screen-wide moves since you'll have much easier opportunities to break the Behemoth's shield once he returns to his normal boulder attack patterns. When that shield breaks, focus your attacks again on the giant purple orb in his chest.

If you don't deal enough damage to kill the boss here, he will blow you back to the left side of the arena and repeat his previous phase two attacks. Just like before, play defensively until he calms down and resumes his normal attack pattern. Eventually, you will break his shield again and have enough time to kill the boss before he can recover!
