Love and Deepspace has been around for a couple of years now, but over the last few days, it's been experiencing arguably its worst backlash to date. It all revolves around a new love interest being added to the game called Valko, an edgy wolf guy that looks like he's been plucked straight out of Twilight, and it's been reported that it's mainly come from the CN side of the game.

According to reports, the backlash to Valko's surprise announcement was intense, with the game's social media platforms having lost millions of followers in just a few days. There were also reportedly physical protests too, with fans sending items like cow dung, funeral flowers and ritual items to the Love and Deepspace developer offices, though this has yet to be verified.

However, the backlash isn't due to Valko himself, but what he represents. Love and Deepspace fans were seemingly furious about the fact that a sixth love interest is being added to the game, despite existing love interests not getting meaningful updates for a long time. With the release of Valko, fans assumed that existing characters would go longer without new interactions or stories, thus the backlash.

Valko's Has Been Canceled Following Intense Backlash

Now, all of this has culminated in the official cancelation of Valko, despite him getting a new trailer on the Love and Deepspace YouTube channel less than a week ago. This was announced via the Love and Deepspace social channels, in which it apologized for any frustration that had been caused and explained that it "moved forward with the introduction of Valko before we were truly ready."

It goes on to explain that the release of Valko has been completely scrapped, and that no more love interests will be added to the game in future updates. Instead, Love and Deepspace will continue to "further develop the stories and long-term companionship experiences of our five existing love interests."

Unsurprisingly, this decision has also received intense backlash, mainly from the global side of the game, which was more excited about Valko's release. There are plenty of people arguing that there's no reason the game can't have Valko and more regular content updates, and there are some going as far as calling the cancelation "consumer fraud" given how recently Valko was advertised.
