Love And Deepspace Petition To Save Valko Reaches 160,000 In One Day

The Love and Deepspace community has been all over the place lately. The announcement of a new love interest, Valko, was met with a mixed response. That's because some players, particularly those on the CN server, hated his design and characterisation. Others were disappointed to see a new love interest get added while the rest are lacking content.

However, no one was expecting Infold's reaction to this backlash to be scrapping Valko altogether. Despite having a full character design, cinematics, and voice acting in multiple regions all ready to go, Infold revealed yesterday that Valko will no longer be coming to Love and Deepspace, and there will be no other love interests in the future.

Now, furious fans are fighting back. Some are contacting Infold directly, calling on them to resume development of Valko. We're also seeing petitions pop up across various websites, with the most successful amassing more than 160,000 signatures and counting.

"Bring back Valko as a love interest as it was intended" on iPetition is the most successful online petition by far. At the time of writing, it has 161,795 signatures and is aiming for 250,000. There's another on Change.org, sitting at 72,131 verified signatures.

"Absolutely awful that Infold have cancelled this when there was always meant to be another love interest," says one supporter on the Change.org petition. "How is the game meant to grow and last if it stays stagnant?"

"I really find it unfair that Infold cancelled Valko by listening to the toxic fans who didn't even give him a chance," says another. "Even if he was not 'their type' or 'their main', they could have just ignored him while the other fans love him."

This campaign has gotten so much attention that even those outside of the fandom have started to take notice, with Change.org commenting on how quickly fans have mobilised.

For now, fans will be hoping that it isn't too late for Infold to walk back on this decision. Presumably, if it can pull the plug on a character who was this close to release, it could just as quickly U-turn and reimplement him into the game? With that said, we have no idea what is going on behind the scenes, and there are a range of different theories on why this was done in the first place. As of the time of writing, though, Valko is no more.
