More than a week after its 1.0 launch, Palworld has come just shy of hitting one million concurrent players on Steam, an impressive milestone that’s still less than half of its true peak.

When Palworld was announced all the way back in 2021, it was easy to imagine that the Pokemon parody wouldn’t end up making much of an impact, if it even ended up releasing at all, knowing how litigious Nintendo is. Although the Nintendo part was definitely true, Palworld ended up leaving its mark in a big way.

Not only did the main game receive positive reviews and draw in a ton of players, but it’s also been spun off into its own TCG, cementing that Pals are here to stay. Last week’s 1.0 release saw the game hit a big player milestone that’s continued to increase over this weekend, even if it’s never going to reach the early access hype.

Palworld Nearly Hit 1 Million Concurrent Players On Steam Yesterday

It’s Settled Back To Over 700k For Now, But That’s Still Impressive

As pointed out on Twitter by the head of publishing and communications at Palworld developer Pocketpair, Bucky_cm, Palworld’s player count suddenly took a massive leap forward more than a week after release. We previously reported that the game launched to over 700k players, but the weekend seems to have changed that.

SteamDB confirms that Palworld reached a 24-hour peak of 921,485 concurrent players on that platform alone, which is inching dangerously close to one million. For context, Palworld has spent the past few years after its launch peak around jumping between 50,000 and 200,000 players, so it’s a noticeable bump.

As of the time of writing, Palworld has nearly 800,000 concurrent players, so I’m thinking that one million could actually be hit today.

Palworld’s massive player count is very impressive considering the game released in early access more than two-and-a-half years ago. That being said, even one million looks a little small compared to its player peak of more than two million players when it first released. The novelty might be somewhat gone, but Palworld clearly has found its own audience.
