While there's plenty of merit to staying in a forever home you're proud of having built in Paralives once you've gotten the cash and ability to do so, you might occasionally need to manage the households in your save, moving Paras between lots and into new homes as relationships develop (or crumble).

It can be a bit tricky, though, to manage households in Paralives, splitting and merging and moving around as you please, with the game not making it quite as clear as other life simulators. Once you've gotten the hang of managing lots, though, doing it is a breeze.

Paralives is an early access game at the time of publishing this guide, so we'll update it in the future as the game continues to develop.

How To Move In Paralives

How To Buy A House Or A Lot

If your Paras have outgrown their current living situation for this reason or that, you've got plenty of ways to move them around the neighborhood, whether that's into a home of your own design or one of the pre-made models. You can split from your current household if needed, but if you're trying to move a family to a new home, it's simpler to do so than it seems!

To manage the neighborhood of Melina and the households within, you'll need to zoom all the way out to get started, revealing the town map from a birds-eye view. This brings up colorful icons on the buildings around the neighborhood, and these indicate different types of lots nearby. Teal-blue icons with a white house on them list the houses that are currently vacant, with a red "For Sale" sign.

Click the icon over of the home or vacant lot you're looking to buy, which brings up a menu in the top-right corner showing the property at a glance. You can see information about the property in this menu, and if you're satisfied, click the blue Purchase button to spend your hard-earned Paradimes on a new home. By default, you'll be able to own multiple properties, if you have enough cash to sustain two households.

Owning two houses is a good way to keep track of family members who move out on their own without them leaving the family, if you split your household.

If you need the money, though, you can also sell former homes by zooming out to the neighborhood once again, selecting the house in question to bring up the menu in the top-right corner again, and clicking the red "Sell This Lot For" button beneath the Para info, which will sell the lot for the price listed on the lower row of the button's text.

Before selling a house in Paralives, place any items you'd like to keep into the inventory of one of the Paras in the family that's moving house, since you might lose your belongings.

Is the house you'd like to move into already occupied by another family? You can evict current residents from their homes by simply swapping your active household over to that family and making the family sell the house to list it for sale.

Build On An Empty Lot

If you'd rather build a house of your own, you'll need to find the location of your dreams and buy the empty lot you'd like. There are ten empty lots around town, with larger spaces costing more Paradimes to purchase, but once you own the lot, what goes on it is completely up to you and your creative skills!

Entering Build/Buy in Paralives brings up plenty of tools to help customize your lot. There are a few icons here that file the main tools you'll need into succinct categories:

  • Build Mode is the red house icon, and it's where you'll find the critical structural building tools like walls, floors, and windows that will be required to physically build the structure of the house.
  • Room Tool is the yellow room icon below Build Mode, and it's where you can find the game's Buy Mode catalog organized by room type to which each piece of furniture typically belongs.
  • Furnishing is the orange button below the Room Tool, and you'll be able to sort the Buy Mode catalog into different categories that may make less-specific items easier to find.
  • Terrain Tools is the green icon second from the bottom, appropriately, and it's where you can find plants, terrain brushes, and more to customize the greenery on your lot.

If you're trying to physically move a house you built already, to spin it on the current lot or move the whole structure around within the boundaries of your lot, you can also do so from this zoomed-out menu of the town by clicking on the icon for your home and moving it in the submenu that appears. This selects the entire structure and gives you a chance to move and rotate buildings.
