Sometimes you and your friends may find you don't want to slog through a full campaign or extended adventure. It can be just as fun to have a one-day sit-down adventure that only lasts a few hours. These miniature quest lines or one-shots are common among TTRPGs and are great for new players, or those who just want a simple and quick adventure. But, which of the myriad of different one-shots out there stand out above the rest?

10 Threshold Of Knowledge

Take ahold of the reins as a new student of magic in the hallowed halls of the Maagambya mage school. Things quickly turn bad though as your teacher winds up missing. Do you and your party have what it takes to find out what happened to them, and potentially even save the school as you know it?

A great experience for players to learn more about problem-solving in Pathfinder as well as those who want a taste of what the magic system can do for you in the game.

9 Little Trouble In Big Absalom

This module actually contains two connected one-shot adventures. You and your friends take control of one of five Kobolds and complete a pair of quests in the neighborhoods of Absalom.

The first has you searching the basement of a local old lady for treasure. The second quest sees that same old lady asking you to find a pair of magically altered hedge clippers for her. A lot of casual fun can be had in either of these low level adventures.

8 Flooded King's Court

Hidden rooms underneath the city of Absalom, a Goblin King calling for adventurers to answer his call, rivalry and deadly encounters aplenty. All of this and more awaits you in Flooded King's Court.

The fun twists on memorable locations and equally memorable characters make this adventure stand out pretty well from other one-shots. The low level means you won't have as many cool tools and spells at your disposal, but it does allow for some simple and easily enjoyable fun.

7 The Indigo Oasis

A rather odd one-shot, but not to be overlooked. Tasked with guiding a child's soul to the afterlife, so it may be able to join up with the rest of her family is one of the more heartbreaking and emotionally charged adventures out there.

This mid-level one-shot is great to tug on the heartstrings of your players and also potentially dive into what a good character development and backstory may look like for those newly interested players.

6 Dinner At Lionlodge

Does a dinner mystery sound like a fun time? Well, Dinner at Lionlodge has what you're looking for. Plans go awry, and instead of a peaceful hunt in the forest your party must first solve why everyone is acting so strange.

Create your very own level four investigator or solve your problems with brute force in this intrigue-filled and low-intensity one-shot.

5 We Be Heroes?

One of the most recent modules from the We be Goblins series. We be Heroes? is a hilarious look into the lives of four level one goblins and their adventures, as they try to defend their land against an encroaching tide of evil. Don't overlook this just due to the low level of the encounters. A great balance for new players of humor, combat, and heroic glory.

4 Mark Of The Mantis

If political intrigue and a group of deadly assassins sounds your thing, then Mark of The Mantis should suit you fine. This one-shot has plenty for new players and veterans alike. There's combat, dialogue options, and plenty of potential use for any skill on your radar.

No one character archetype stands out here. A great choice for those who want to make any character or player feel valued at the table.

3 Sundered Waves

Being a pirate on the high seas of a fantasy world is always a thrilling time. As one of a group of newly released prisoners and former pirates, your job is to go out and find your deceased captain's treasure and claim it for yourselves.

But, of course, that is no easy task. The oceans of Pathfinder are filled with plenty of challenges and creatures ready to throw a wrench in your plans.

2 We Be Goblins

Sometimes we all just want to play as a group of goblins dead-set, on setting off some fireworks. That's the main plot of We Be Goblins, a great one-shot adventure in which you and your goblins allies are tasked by your leader to salvage some fireworks from a nearby abandoned ship

But, be prepared to face some deadly threats in the swamps along the way. This is a perfect choice for a group who wants a not so serious adventure to pass the evening by with.

1 Head Shot The Rot

What adventure is complete without a smattering of guns and the living dead? Well, that's exactly the question asked by this one-shot. A nice evening of drinks at the bar turns sour after the nearby theatre is overrun by the undead. You and your companions are charged with using the guns found in the Guns and Gears Pathfinder expansion to save the town and the day.

This is a great expansion that balances fun and difficulty quite well. Plus, it's never a bad time shooting zombies in a fantasy universe.
