PS5 And PS5 Pro Price Cuts Are Coming Very Soon According To Reliable Leaker
Summary
- PlayStation might be about to buck the recent price hike trend by cutting the prices of its current-gen consoles.
- That's according to a usually reliable leaker who claims price cuts are coming via a Days of Play sale.
- If accurate, the slimmer models of the PS5 and the PS5 Pro will be available for less.
As the industry standard price for triple-A games creeps up to $80 and price increases hit Xbox consoles, the gaming world has been holding its breath waiting to see what PlayStation will do next. Turns out, if the latest from a very reliable leaker is anything to go by, PlayStation's next move will be a price cut, not a price increase, on its latest consoles.
The reliable leaker reporting that is French site dealabs. From the site's beginnings reporting which games were coming to PS Plus next until now, I'm yet to recall a dealabs leak that didn't eventually come true. That's why its report that PlayStation will be cutting the price of the PS5 and the PS5 Pro as part of its Days of Play sale later this week should come as very welcome news.

There's a fear that the Master Crafted Edition will be skipping PlayStation.
PostsAccording to dealabs, both the standard and digital versions of the slimmer PS5 model will undergo 100 euro price cuts in Europe, dropping their prices down to 450 euros and 400 euros, respectively. The PS5 Pro will also be getting a price cut, the cost dropping from 800 to 750 euros. If the leak comes true, it will be the first time the Pro version of PlayStation's newest console has received an official price cut.

Days Of Play Potentially Swooping In To Save The Day
CloseAs refreshing as it is to see current-gen consoles that are almost five years old going down in price instead of up, there is a slight caveat if these sale prices are implemented later this week. They come after PlayStation increased its console prices in select regions. The digital edition of the PS5, for example, was 450 euros until a recent price increase bumped it up to 500 euros. Hey, hopefully, by the end of this week, the console will not only be available for less than it costs now, and less than it cost before the recent price increase.
There's also no mention of whether any of these sale prices will be available in the US, although that's to be expected. Dealabs is a French site and therefore focuses on how much products are potentially going to cost in France. PlayStation has avoided price increases in the US despite tariffs, so if it cuts the price of its consoles in a few days, it would be quite something, and a real statement to its competitors.
PlayStation holds a Days of Play sale every year during which it sells consoles, accessories, and games for less, and it's expected to announce plans for this year's event as soon as this Tuesday. Here's hoping what dealabs has leaked about the event comes true.
