That being said, there are a few staples when it comes to the Pokemon Go experience, including Spotlight Hours, a specific type of event that takes place on a weekly basis.

Each Spotlight Hour event will feature a specific Pokemon, giving you tons of opportunities to catch that Pokemon, and accompanied by a number of in-game bonuses. Below you can find all the information on the Spotlight Hours that will take place throughout May 2025, including dates, details, and tips.

May 2025 Spotlight Hour Dates And Times

There will be four different Spotlight Hours hosted throughout the month of May 2025, each featuring a different Pokemon. Each of these Spotlight Hours will take place on a Tuesday, active from 6pm local time to 7pm local time.

The featured Pokemon for each Spotlight Hour will have their spawn rate significantly increased, making them the only Pokemon available to catch in the wild in most cases. Additionally, each Spotlight Hour will have a specific bonus paired with it, giving you the opportunity to earn additional in-game resources during these one-hour events.

May 6 Spotlight Hour: Furfrou

Furfrou will be featured for the first May 2025 Spotlight Hour, taking place on Tuesday, May 6, 2025.

The bonuses for this Spotlight Hour will provide you with double the Candy when catching different Pokemon during this event. With the drastically increased Furfrou spawn rate during this Spotlight Hour, make sure to catch several of them, providing you with tons of Furfrou Candy.

For all Spotlight Hour events, you will want to Mega Evolve a specific Pokemon during its duration, a Mega Evolution with a type that matches that of the Spotlight Hour Pokemon. For this Spotlight Hour, make sure to Mega Evolve a Normal-type Pokemon, awarding you additional Candy when catching different Furfrou.

May 13 Spotlight Hour: Sandygast

The second Spotlight Hour for May will feature Sandygast, taking place on Tuesday, May 13, 2025.

During this Spotlight Hour, you will receive double the Candy each time a Pokemon is transferred. This bonus is available for all Pokemon transferred, not just Sandygast, so make sure to stock up on Pokemon that you wish to transfer.

With Sandygast being a Ghost and Ground dual-type Pokemon, make sure to Mega Evolve a Pokemon that is one of these two types to obtain additional Candy for each catch.

May 20 Spotlight Hour: Poochyena

The Spotlight Hour taking place on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, will feature Poochyena.

You will receive double the XP each time you evolve a Pokemon, applying to all Pokemon that are evolved. Make sure to catch and evolve several Poochyena during this Spotlight Hour, as well as any other Pokemon you have saved that you are planning to evolve.

Make sure to use the Lucky Egg item before evolving any Pokemon during this Spotlight Hour if possible.

Using a Lucky Egg will double the XP that you earn for 30 minutes, stacking with this week's bonus.

Poochyena is a pure Dark-type Pokemon, so make sure to Mega Evolve a Pokemon of the same type to benefit from additional Candy when catching each Poochyena.

May 27 Spotlight Hour: Golett

The final Spotlight Hour of May 2025 will feature Golett, the Ground and Ghost-type Pokemon.

The bonus for this Spotlight Hour will be double Stardust when catching any Pokemon. Catch different Golett during this Spotlight Hour to earn plenty of Stardust, a resource needed to power-up different Pokemon.

Use the Star Piece item during this Spotlight Hour.

This will increase the Stardust that you obtain by 50 percent, lasting for 30 minutes.

Make sure to Mega Evolve a Ground or Ghost-type during this Spotlight Hour to earn additional Golett Candy each time one is caught.
