Customizing your character is a big part of the experience in any modern RPG, and this extends to Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. Although it doesn't have nearly as many options as its recent predecessors, there are numerous ways that you can customize your character to make yourself as unique as the world you inhabit.

From hairstyles to shoe styles, the vast Paldea region boasts a wide assortment of possibilities in a variety of styles, colors, and prices. However, navigating all the available options and where to find the best accessories can be a little tricky, and knowing how much something is before walking into a store can save your poor wallet in the long run. Regardless, whether it's makeup or clothes, the Paldea region offers a little something for everyone.

Face And Hair Customization

Before you can begin the game, you'll have to customize your character's face. This includes choosing your character's skin tone, facial features, and basic hairstyle. You'll be able to change your character's hairstyle and color throughout your gameplay for a price, and the option to change your facial features (eye color, lipstick, etc.) will be a free option available to you through the customization and clothing menu.

You'll be asked to choose your gender in the starting customization menu. There does not appear to be any defining features to distinguish genders in the game. Options of customization are no longer gender locked, including hair, makeup, and clothing.

Hairstyles

Hairstyles and colors are available for free during character creation, but you may change them at any Salon Renacer in Paldea for 3,000 Pokedollars. Whether you choose to change bothhair and color, or only one of the two, does not change the price. Locations of Salon Renacer include:

Should you wish, you can also put on a few freckles. They stack with the beauty marks, so you can mix and match between these two categories as you like.

Navigating The Outfit Menu

Later, once you're done customizing your character and pass through the opening scenes within your character's house, you'll have the option to open the Outfit menu. This is where all clothing and facial customization can be done. To access this menu, press the left button on your controller's D pad.

The clothing in the Outfit menu is organized by category and has corresponding icons. You can turn your character by using the right joystick in order to get a good look at the clothing you try on (by selecting A on your controller on any one item). To get an even better focused view, you can press Y and view an image of your character without the menu.

From here, you can also choose to change your character's "Look" or facial features. By pressing + in this menu, you will be able to change your character's eyes, mouth, lashes, brows, and so on. You will not be able to change your hair in this menu, and must visit Salon Renacer in order to do so.

Clothing Stores Explained

There are a number of clothing stores available in the Paldean region. Unlike previous games, you cannot enter them (as they do not have interiors), and instead you'll be shown a menu from which you can purchase items. There are a number of store chains that have sister storefronts across Paldea, letting you know what to expect before entering the store as they all carry similar merchandise. They include:

  • Seguro Style - Various 'Edgy' Accessories
  • Bagin's - Bags
  • Spec Shack - Glasses
  • Rough & Tough - Various Outdoor Accessories
  • Veracidad - Various Expensive Accessories
  • Capbourg - Hats
  • Zapaldea Footwear - Shoes
  • Sock Quarter - Socks

Storefronts can be found in any of the three major cities: Mesagoza, Levincia, or Cascarrafa.

Veracidad and Seguro style cannot be found in Mesagoza. It's recommended to visit Levincia or Cascarrafa once you have access to either for the remainder of your gameplay.

Once you buy an item from these stores, you'll be able to equip them either in the store right after purchase or, as earlier mentioned, by pressing the left key on the D pad of your controller to pull up the Attire menu while walking about.

Choosing Your Accessories

Customizing your character relies solely on the accessories you give your character. It is currently impossible to change your body clothing beyond switching between the four uniform options available to you from the start of the game. These options are in line with the four seasons (Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter) and are pictured above.

It is not possible to mix-match pieces of the uniforms or dye them, although which game you choose will affect the colors on your uniform. If you chose Pokemon Scarlet, your uniform will be orange. If you chose Pokemon Violet, your uniform will be purple.

  • Bags
  • Hats
  • Glasses
  • Rotom Phone Cases

Rotom Phone Cases cannot be bought from any clothing stores. You can buy them from Delibird Presents or earn some for free by talking to the lady on the staircase of Mesagoza if you have a saved game of a previous Switch Pokemon title on your console.

You can buy hats from the following stores:

  • Seguro Style
  • Veracidad
  • Rough & Tough

Although they are one of the more expensive accessories, they are crucial in defining your character's appearance. They, alongside socks/legwear, have one of the longest catalogs of options, allowing you to truly spice up your fashionable appearance into something truly unique to you.
