Pokemon TCG Pocket’s Celestial Guardians set takes players to the Alola region. This set not only showcases the power of Alola but taps into the hidden potential of stage two Pokemon. With cards like Rare Candy and Lillie letting those stage twos last longer and strike faster, the set shakes up the very core of the game.

Looking to score the perfect cards to build your deck? Check out these tips for securing the cards you need.
Posts By Alexander PineraSo what are the best cards in Celestial Guardians? Some cards give players unique openings using their Abilities or Move effects. Others are generic enough to help any deck power through whatever your opponent throws at you. So here are ten cards to keep an eye on.
10 Alolan Marowak
A Perfect Non-Ex For Beginners
With Alolan Pokemon entering the battle, Alolan Marowak is an interesting counterpart to the original Marowak cards from Genetic Apex. This is a blend of the original two cards with a heavy-hitting attack reliant on coin flips.
Burning Bonemerang does 70 for each head you land on and inflicts Burn on just one successful flip. This is enough to make up for the ten less damage it can do outright. Even though the Move costs three Energy, this is not a Pokemon ex, so it only counts as one point for your opponent. It even has Energy acceleration support thanks to Kiawe.
9 Oricorio
A Stall Tactic Against Pokemon Ex
There is a good portion of strong decks that rely on getting their Pokemon ex out as fast as possible. Oricorio is a neat counter to this by blocking any damage it might receive from their attacks.

Posts 1 By Marissa FioreThis creates the perfect stall tactic that forces your opponent to switch out their Pokemon or find a way to switch out yours. Oricorio does a solid 50 damage, which can add up in the time it takes for your opponent to find a way out of this lock.
8 Rare Candy
Straight To Stage Two
The legendary Rare Candy hits Pokemon TCG Pocket in the Celestial Guardians set. This is one of the best Items in the game since it lets stage two Pokemon come out faster than ever before. Suddenly, your Basic Pokemon can skip their stage one Evolutions.
Rare Candy is a must-have for any Evolution deck. The only downside is that you have to wait a turn for a Pokemon you just put into play before Evolving it. It is worth it to get some of the more powerful Pokemon ex or non-ex Evolutions you want to use.
7 Alolan Raichu Ex
Making A Splash
Some of the most powerful Moves in Pokemon TCG Pocket cost around two Energy. With Alolan Raichu ex, you can turn the cost for these powerful Moves into that Pokemon’s downfall. Even at just one Energy, you can do a minimum of 90 damage.

Which ex card is the best in Shining Revelry?
Posts By Alexander PineraPsychic has a base damage of 60. This makes it more independent than Moves, where the damage is entirely reliant on your opponent. It also helps that Alolan Raichu ex doesn’t have a specific Energy requirement. That’s Colorless all the way!
6 Lunala Ex
Energy Movement For Psychics
Lunala ex may not be the strongest card in its own pack, but it does have some merit. For starters, it can move around Psychic Energy from the Bench to the Active Spot. This is useful when you need to switch out but keep the same Energy in play instead of losing it due to a knockout.
This Ability can even be used on itself if you need to attack with Lunala ex in a pinch. 100 damage can still take down many stage one Pokemon in a single hit and will obliterate anything in two.
5 Alolan Muk Ex
Does Your Opponent Feel Lucky?
Alolan Muk ex often feels like a slot machine in terms of Special Conditions. You never really know what you’re going to hit your opponent with. Luckily, Chemical Panic does more than just irk your opponent with damage on checkup or the one-turn stun.

Posts By Alexander PineraThis Pokemon ex does a solid 80 damage once you can pay for its Move. As a stage one Pokemon, it won’t be long before you can get this one out there pushing Special Conditions. This can be both powerful and disruptive.
4 Guzma
An Evergreen Supporter
All the other Supporters in Celestial Guardians have relatively niche effects. They require you to be playing a specific deck or using certain Pokemon names. This is how Guzma becomes one of the best Supporters with plenty of mileage.
Guzma can get rid of pesky Pokemon Tools such as Poison Barb, Rocky Helmet, or Leaf Cape. It is also very generic and can be used by any deck. It is also a Supporter that only gets better the more useful the Pokemon Tool category of cards becomes.
3 Lillie
Maximum Healing For The Strongest Pokemon
Your stage two Pokemon take a bit of time to go into, unless you have a Rare Candy. During that time, your Pokemon might get hit. That’s where Lillie comes in as a Trainer card capable of healing 60 damage from any stage two Pokemon on your side of the field.

Manaphy is running around the Sinnoh region in Pokemon Pocket. Have you spotted them?
Posts By Marissa FioreHealing 60 HP can go a long way, especially when you have tanky stage two Pokemon with plenty of durability on them already. Even Venusaur ex, which can already heal itself and has a dedicated Grass-type healing in the form of Erika, benefits from this card.
2 Decidueye Ex
A Pokemon Sniper
Rowlett’s final Evolution is a force to be reckoned with. This Pokemon has both a solid Move for combating your opponent’s Active Pokemon and a powerful Bench-hitting technique for long-range takedowns.
Pierce the Pain has a Colorless cost of two and does 100 damage to any Pokemon with damage on it. This can prevent Pokemon from Retreating safely to the Bench. However, this Move can also be used on the Active Spot as a finishing blow after Razor Leaf. This combo can finish off any Pokemon in two turns.
1 Solgaleo Ex
Always Ready To Hit Hard
Solgaleo ex has everything going for it. It has a solid 180 HP, making it a tank, the ability to tag in from the Bench, and a cheap Move that does 120 for only two Energy. The only downside is that it isn’t a Basic Pokemon ex.
Luckily, with cards like Rare Candy, no Prize Card system, and 20-card decks, getting into Solgaleo is not as difficult as it looks. Once you have it on the Bench and loaded up with Energy, you can use it to replace your damaged Active Pokemon.
