As you start your journey in Runescape: Dragonwilds, you learn about some fundamentals. One of the most important things in this game is woodcutting, as this skill allows you to craft most of the early game items. Of course, this skill will help you tremendously in the long run, too, so leveling it up is necessary.

You will need to craft an ax at the start in order to cut some trees, and for that, you can pick up some ash logs from the ground. However, as you progress, you will encounter some oak trees that require better equipment. So, here, we will provide you with a comprehensive guide to woodcutting.

Runescape: Dragonwilds is in early access, so the contents of this guide may be changed in the future.

Overhead Chop

This skill doesn't require you to use any runes, as it is another variant of the standard chop. Overhead Chop is used on trees that have fallen on the ground, as it deals 33 percent more damage than the standard chop. This skill will do a lot less damage to the trees that are still standing.

11

Axtral Projection

A spell that you can use to fell trees instantly. With a single cast, you can fell multiple trees if they are lined up. Of course, they should also be well within the range of the spell. Axtral Projection can also be used to clear the stumps, but you can't use it on the logs.

16

Bird Nests

This spell unlocks at level 16 but may not be very useful. Bird Nests are found on trees, so after this skill is unlocked, you may get some items after you have felled the tree. We have not received any rare or really useful items this way. The Bird Nests skill does not require any runes.

20

Chop Thorny Vines

This skill allows you to cut down thorny vines to unlock secret areas. This skill is necessary if you want to do the Goblin Diplomacy quest, as without it, you can't start this mission. Chop Thorny Vines doesn't require any runes to cast; you just have to use your ax on the thorny vines, and the skill will be activated automatically.

27

Splinter

Splinter is perhaps the most useful spell that helps you level up your woodcutting skill extremely fast. This skill enables the user to instantly transform fallen trees into wooden logs. You can use it to chop down multiple trees at once as long as they are within the spell's radius. Spinter requires runes and has a 45-second cooldown.

Lumber Storage

Another extremely important spell you can unlock while leveling up woodcutting is Lumber Storage. You can create a storage box anywhere with this spell, but it can only store logs and planks. It can hold up to 48 items, so that's pretty useful. Also, if you place the Lumber Storage in front of the Sanwill, the planks will be automatically stored inside it.

We have only detailed the spells that you can unlock while leveling up the woodcutting skill. The levels other than the ones we have explained in this guide lessen your woodcutting stamina cost by one percent.

How To Level Up Woodcutting Fast

As you level up your skills in this game, you get different spells, and they are pretty useful. The most useful spells you can get from leveling up woodcutting are Axtral Projection, Splinter, and Lumber Storage.

Initially, you can level up your woodcutting skills by simply chopping up some ash trees. After chopping a few, you will reach level 11 and unlock the Axtral Projection. This skill allows you to cut down trees with magic.

Try to use the Overhead Chop in the middle of the fallen tree's parts so you can chop down two big logs in a single attempt.

However, for that, you would need some runes specific to the spell. You can get those by mining the rune stones and then crafting a rune altar that can be used to craft different runes.

After unlocking the Axtral Projection, you will be able to chop trees faster, but you still need the Splinter spell to make it more efficient. For that, you would need to level up to 27, but that won't take much time. After you have unlocked Splinter, you can use this spell after using Axtral Projection. This spell will instantly chop down the fallen tree.

Try to align some trees together so you can use the Splinter spell on at least two trees in one go. This will grant you a significant amount of EXP.

There are three types of axes in the game: Stone, Bronze, and Iron. Initially, you will use the stone one, but eventually, you will need to use bronze and iron. You can chop ash trees with any of your axes, but for Oak Trees and Blightwood, you will need a bronze or an iron one.
