Rare Candy Is Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket's New Meta Buster
Rare Candy is a card that sees play in many of the top real-world Pokemon Trading Card Game decks, and Pokemon TCG Pocket is likely to be no different.
It allows players to evolve a Basic Pokemon straight into a Stage 2 Pokemon, bypassing the need for its middle evolution. This gives players the opportunity to ramp up their play significantly quicker.
Currently, the Pokemon TCG Pocket meta is dominated by Basic ex cards, or powerful cards that require no evolution. Cards like Giratina ex, Darkrai ex, Arceus ex, and Palkia ex, have all dominated because they can enter the field of play immediately, but that's all about to change with Rare Candy.
Discussions have already begun on the TCG Pocket subreddit, with players figuring out which cards will now be viable thanks to the new item, and there were some clear answers.
Genetic Apex and Shining Revelry's Charizard exs were both seen as big winners. These two Fire-type cards were seen as powerful, yet difficult to use, due to their slow ramp-up speeds. Rare Candy should help to bypass that.
Gallade ex was another card cited to benefit from the item, as was Beedrill ex, which will likely be a menace now, being able to hit for 80 damage and removing an opponent's energy card on turn two, especially when combined with Meowscarada, which also benefits from Rare Candy.
One final wave of Pokemon likely to benefit from Rare Candy is those that evolve from Fossils. The likes of Rampardos and Aerodactyl ex are likely to be even more competitive from here on out.
We truly are in a new era.
