Posts By Mohamed El OuardighiThis boss becomes accessible once you reach the farthest point in the DLC version of N'Erud. Alepsis-Taura is a massive, intelligent entity that changes shape and size, constantly covering its weak spot and using unpredictable attacks to keep you on your toes.
Alepsis-Taura Boss Location
Alepsis-Taura is the final boss of The Dark Horizon DLC, and if you've activated One-Shot mode, you're guaranteed to encounter this boss. To reach Alepsis-Taura, you’ll need to make your way to a location called The Convergence, the farthest point in the DLC. You can also see this location by interacting with a World Stone.
Unlike most bosses, Alepsis-Taura doesn’t immediately trigger a fight. Instead, as you approach the arena, you’ll have the option to either engage in conversation or turn back. If you feel your build or gear isn’t optimized for the battle, you can choose to leave. However, if you're ready, selecting the other option will trigger the boss fight.
Alepsis-Taura Boss Attack Patterns
Attacks
Description
Swiping Razors
During the fight with Alepsis-Taura, the stones surrounding the boss's circular body morph into razor-sharp blades. After a brief pause, the boss swipes the blades twice in quick succession. You’ll know the attack is coming when you hear a bell sound, signaling that the blades are about to strike.
Four Smashing Walls
Alepsis-Taura also transforms its body and summons four rotating walls around itself. It then ascends into the air before slamming both the walls and its body into the ground, creating a powerful shockwave at the point of impact.
Black AoE Wave
Once the boss slams the ground, it unleashes a black AoE wave that expands outward, covering the arena. To avoid this, dodge roll into the wave as it approaches. This wave comes back towards the boss after a few seconds' delay so time your dodges accordingly to avoid getting hit.
Vertical Projections
After sending the Black AoE wave, the boss will fire vertical energy projections from the spaces between the four walls. You’ll notice a couple of silhouettes right before these projections are fired, giving you enough time to move out of the way and avoid the hit.
Mirror Projectiles
Similar to the four smashing walls, the boss will cast mirrored versions of the massive walls from the air, sending them toward you. To avoid taking damage, you can either run out of their path or dodge directly toward the projectiles to evade the hit.
AoE Explosion
The boss at times does an AoE explosion mostly after ending an attack. It briefly charges up by lowering itself to the ground before releasing the blast.
Ring Projectiles
The boss also summons rings around itself, launching them in two patterns: one variation fires a single horizontal ring, while the other fires two vertical rings.
Tentacle Ground Smash
When you reduce the boss’s health to about half, it transforms and grows larger, summoning tentacles around it. The first attack it usually performs is slamming a tentacle onto the ground, often aimed at where you’re standing.
Tentacle Swipe
After smashing the ground with its tentacles, the boss will also perform a tentacle swipe attack. You can time your dodge and roll out of danger to avoid getting hit.
Tentacle Ranged Hit
Occasionally, the boss will hover in the air and extend a tentacle to hit you from a distance. This attack typically happens twice in quick succession.
Star Projectiles
In the final phase, when the boss grows to nearly fill the battle arena, it will fire star-like projectiles from afar. These are homing attacks that follow you for a short time, but you can dodge roll, or outrun them to avoid getting hit.
Wall Projectiles
Similar to the earlier mirror projectiles, the boss will also launch a massive wall-like projectile toward you. To evade it, dodge toward the projectile just before it reaches you.
How To Beat Alepsis-Taura Boss
After triggering the boss fight, the arena transforms into a circular, watery platform where Alepsis-Taura hovers and attacks mostly from a distance. While there are no environmental hazards, you’ll need to be careful not to fall off the platform, as it will result in instant death.
The boss’s weak spot is the black circular center of its body, which it often tries to shield by changing forms. When the center is exposed, make sure to land your shots there, as it deals massive damage.
For weapon selection, prioritize a Long Gun as your primary weapon since the boss stays airborne and at a distance. Close-range weapons like shotguns are ineffective in this fight.
Consumables that boost your stamina or provide passive health regeneration will be invaluable during the boss fight, especially Blood Root, which restores health over time after use. Since the boss unleashes rapid, consecutive attacks, you’ll have little time to heal. Using Blood Root ensures your health regenerates continuously, allowing you to focus on attacking without constantly checking your health bar.
By repeating the strategies we’ve mentioned in this guide, you should be able to defeat the boss in less than ten minutes.
Rewards
Once you’ve defeated Alepsis-Taura, you’ll be rewarded with the Black Mass material and the Insight Trait. You can take the Black Mass to Ava McCabe in Ward 13 to craft the Dark Matter Gauntlets melee weapon.
