As long as you're in the dangerous world of Stalker 2: Heart Of Chornobyl, you won't get to have an easy time since you'll constantly be surrounded by both environmental and human dangers. These include various factions that can randomly attack you and mutants that you'll constantly find on your path.

Anomalies are a big part of the gameplay in Stalker 2: Heart Of Chornobyl, and it's important to understand exactly what they do.

To deal with these dangers, you'll need both weapons to attack them and armor to tank their damage. However, your gear can get damaged over time, and it's important to repair them while also giving them some upgrades.

What To Do With Broken Weapons In Stalker 2

Whenever you defeat a human enemy in Stalker 2: Heart Of Chornobyl, they'll drop their gun on the ground or you'll find one or more guns in their inventory. Unfortunately, the guns you find on these NPCs usually have either a yellow or, more likely, a red durability mark on them, which makes them borderline useless.

A gun with low durability can have a bullet stuck in its barrel while you shoot with it, forcing you to do a special reload animation to fix it.

This has a higher chance of happening the lower the durability of the gun is.

Realistically, you can just ignore most guns dropped by your enemies that are on red durability since you can't even sell them to the traders. On the other hand, if you get a rare gun from them, you can keep it and start the process of repairing it. This can be done by finding a technician on any of the main bases.

When you talk to the technician, you'll be able to press the upgrade button to go into the repair and upgrade menu. Here, You can see the button to repair the current item on the screen at the bottom right. Repairing cost is quite high in Stalker 2: Heart Of Chornobyl, so you should only do it for the gear you're planning to use.

Some technicians, like the one in Noontide Base, might not have the repair option until you progress through the main story.

How To Upgrade Your Equipment

If you've used a specific gun or armor enough to be sure that you want to upgrade them, you can do it from the same screen as the repair. However, if the durability of the item you're trying to upgrade is too low, you'll first have to repair it. There will be many times when the repairing itself will take away your upgrade funds.

Apart from normal upgrades that simply increase the multipliers on your gear, some special upgrades on your armor can give you more slots to hold artifacts while the ones on weapons can give you the ability to equip a scope or laser sight on them.

As you upgrade your gear, the cost to repair it will also increase slightly.
