The Trailblazer is the only way for you to travel between worlds in Star Wars Outlaws, so it's important to take good care of your ship. The best way to do that is by upgrading it to make your weapons, engines, and defense stronger so you can survive in the wilds of the galaxy.

Posts By Aidan CannonThere are several ways to upgrade your ship, including passive modules that you can find parts for from all over the worlds available to you. The guide below details everything you need to know about weaponry, shields, and more.
How To Upgrade The Trailblazer
The very first upgrade you'll get as part of the main story progression. After completing The Underworld quest, Eleera gives you Fuel Injectors, which you'll then bring to Waka after completing the New Tricks quest.
After that, upgrades won't be available till after you complete The Wreck quest. Once upgrades are available, you can get them done at ship mechanics found mostly in major cities, sometimes near the spaceport or landing pad.
The ship mechanic is identified on the map by the ship and wrench icon. When upgrades are available, there'll be a yellow arrow on the icon as well.
The ship mechanics you can visit include:

All Weaponry Upgrades And How To Get Them
There are three categories of weapon systems that you can install on your ship:
- Cannons
- Launchers
- Turrets.
Each category and weapon have a few types available, and while you can upgrade all of them, you can only have one of each type installed at one time.
Cannons
This is your primary weapon that you'll use in space combat with enemy ships, to break open cargo containers, and to shoot mines or Slygel from a safe distance.
There are three different cannons you can choose from:
- Laser Cannons: Your standard single-shot cannons, good against small ships or opening cargo.
- Rapid-fire Cannons: One pull on the trigger shoots multiple shots at once. Can also hit multiple targets. Not great against fast-moving enemies.
- Plasburst Cannons: Shoots two heavy-duty plasma bolts at your target to deal a lot of damage. Much stronger than the standard laser cannons. Great for dealing with stronger enemy ships like freighters, or if you want to end the fight quickly.

Shields and the ship's hull work hand-in-hand to keep you and your crew as safe as possible. The deflector shields, which create an energy barrier around the hull, are your first line of defense. After that, the hull will start receiving damage and if you can't repair fast enough, you will lose the battle.
Upgrading both of these is essential for your survival in space during battles with pirates, enemy syndicates, or the empire.

Passive systems are optional upgrades you can get for your ship. Like previous modules, only one can be equipped at one time, but there are three total that you can get that provide unique benefits to space travel.
Although these modules are in the "Passive Systems" category, you do have to press a button or key to activate the module. You can see what button it is by looking at the bottom right of your screen when you're in battle. The module you have equipped is between your cannons and launcher.
