Andor's Success Has Led To A Rogue One Resurgence On Disney Plus
Summary
- Andor is over, which has resulted in a resurgence for Rogue One.
- Rogue One is currently the most-watched movie on Disney Plus and has been number one all weekend.
- The events of Andor lead directly into, and help inform, Rogue One.
Andor has come to an end. Since the season two finale leads directly into Rogue One, there's no chance Disney will change its mind and renew it for a season three. Filling in the blanks ahead of Rogue One was the entire point of Andor, and now the 2016 Star Wars hit is enjoying a resurgence as fans watch it through different eyes with Andor's story fresh in their minds.
According to tracking site FlixPatrol, Rogue One is currently the number one most-watched movie on Disney Plus worldwide. If that wasn't impressive enough, it climbed up into that top spot on Saturday and has remained there ever since. It's been creeping up the charts ever since the final three episodes of Andor dropped, reaching number two on Friday and then one over the weekend.

Posts 1It seems Star Wars fans aren't stopping at Rogue One. A New Hope is currently in sixth position on the FlixPatrol movie chart, suggesting that once people are done with Rogue One, they're moving onto the Star Wars movie that comes next chronologically. How Andor's rebellion came together, how they knew about the Death Star, and then the Death Star getting destroyed.

That's The Whole Point
CloseFans are already sharing their feelings about how certain things hit differently after watching Andor. Not just Rogue One, as intended, but also the opening to A New Hope. You've likely seen the original Star Wars movie so many times at this stage that those big yellow letters slowly scroll without you paying much attention. However, as pointed out by Rough-Leg-4148 on the Andor subreddit, you really should give them another read with the events of Andor still bouncing around in your head.
There are still quite a few of you finishing off Andor, too, as the show is top of the Disney Plus TV charts. More people are watching the latest Star Wars show than Grey's Anatomy, and there are more than twice as many Andor watchers as there are people watching Bluey. As someone with a five-year-old who lives in a house where Bluey is basically on 24/7, I can confirm that's an impressive feat.
While that's all from Andor, there's naturally a lot more Star Wars to come. Work is ongoing on The Mandalorian & Grogu, a blockbuster movie that will aim to bring multiple TV projects together for one huge movie when it releases in theaters next summer. Ahsoka is getting a season two, a TV show about Darth Maul is in the works, and a Ryan Gosling-led movie called Starfighter has also been announced.
