Shin-Chan: Shiro And The Coal Town - Complete Trolley Racing Guide
Coal Town may seem like your everyday mining town in Shin-Chan: Shiro And The Coal Town, but it hides more than a few secrets and unique features, one of which is Trolley Racing. In it, trolley racers go head-to-head on huge courses across the town, battling it out for victory and rewards.

Pixel graphics can be cozy, but it's perfectly fine to want something a bit more unique. Here, you can find some of the best non-pixel cozy games.
Posts 1 By Jacqueline ZalaceShin-Chan wants to get in on trolley racing, but it's not as simple as just getting in any old cart, going down a straight line, and hoping you manage to go faster. The courses you'll face are wild, your opponents bring them attachments capable of causing you problems, and you'll have to get more points than them too.
What Are Trolley Races?
Trolley Races are unlocked after you complete the invention challenge, An Invention To Turn You Into An Adult, and its subsequent main missions, A Grown Up Seat and Trolley Race Debut.
In them, you'll be racing a trolley car against another character in the story around a specific course while collecting points in the form of gems, and whoever has the highest score wins the race.
They serve not only as a key story component, but also as a way to get large amounts of rarer junk items and gems like Shafts, Tourmaline, and Placer Gold without having to trade for them or buy them from the Sundries Shop once you've unlocked them for purchase.
All Trolley Bodies
You'll unlock the ability to get new parts for your trolley car after completing the main mission, The First Victory, and they allow you to customize your trolley with a variety of bodies and attachments that give you different qualities or abilities, such as being able to destroy rock obstacles.
Trolley Bodies come in three specialties: balance, speed, and free-cost. The Do Your Best 001 and Save Your Best For Last are balance types, offering a slower max speed than the speed type cars, but are more controllable and slow down easier.
The Go Plane No.1, Ace Jet No. 2, and Hit Star No. 3 are all speed types, which accelerate and maintain a higher max speed, but are much harder to control and lose speed slower than balance types.
The M-0 body excels at both balance and speed, but it doesn't have any free-cost abilities like the Repeller BT or Tin Fish KG.
The Repeller BT and Tin Fish KG are free-cost types, and each of them specializes in giving you free use of one mechanic:
- The Repeller BT lets you go around five curves without slowing down, while the Tin Fish KG lets you use five trolley abilities without a cooldown.

All Trolley Parts
Trolley Parts include the front, the center, and the rear. Each area has a set of parts it can equip, with the body determining how your car performs, while the other areas give you abilities, up to a total of three you can use during a course.
You start with a handful of choices, but once you complete the sub-mission, Jyuroku's Trolley Shop, and the sub-mission series that follows it, Trolley Shop's New Parts, you'll get new attachments and upgrades for existing ones.
Front Trolley Parts
Two types of trolley parts can go on the front of your trolley, the Drill Part and the Roller Part, and you can have one of them equipped in the slot at a time.
The Drill Part can destroy the large rock obstacles that appear on certain courses and can also be used to hit the opposing trolley and make them lose points.
The Roller Part pairs well with the speed-type Trolley bodies and can let you keep up their high speeds with fewer penalties for hitting corners too fast.
The Roller Part can be used to allow you to take a curve without slowing down or taking a penalty for hitting it too fast if timed properly, but it can't be used to damage opposing trolleys.

Center Trolley Parts
Like the front of your trolley, the center has two types of parts available, and you can only have one of them equipped at a time: Barrier and Beam.
The Barrier Part is a defensive option, and it generates a shield for a few seconds that protects you from being run into or getting hit by an opposing trolley's attacks.
The Beam Part is one of your offensive options, and it sends out two beams toward the nearest opposing trolley, causing them to lose points and get knocked backupon impact.

Rear Trolley Parts
The rear of your trolley works under the same rules as the other two sections, and it can also have two different parts: the Brake and the Boost.
These two are both related to speed, with the Brake Part allowing you to slow down your trolley quicker than stopping your acceleration.
The Brake Parts work especially well in tandem with the speed-type Trolley Cars and help offset their worse control.
The Boost Part does the opposite and provides your trolley with a sudden burst of speed when used that can allow you to launch yourself off a jump and reach midair gems, or ram into the opposing trolley racer to make them lose ten points.

You can't use any trolley parts the first time you do this course, since it's a tutorial, but you can replay it with parts after.
Any combination of parts works on this map, and you don't have to worry about Yuta using any offensive parts against you either.

This course is unlocked after you beat the Beginner's Trial Course, and it's another Easy level course that introduces you to course obstacles: a giant rock that will cause you to lose three points if you run into it.
It also introduces split paths, where two different paths are available and which one you go down is determined by a track-switching mechanic.
Tracks with split paths generally offer an easier path with fewer points and no obstacles, or a path with obstacles with more points for you to grab.
You can use the Boost or Break Parts to help you speed up or slow down to get the path you want before it switches.
All you'll want to do on this track is avoid running into Tamako and try to take the right path through the rock for extra points, and the left path with blue gemsto boost your score even more.

This course is unlocked by beating the Pick A Lane Course, and this introduces you to battling your opponent during a trolley race.
It features a lot of tight corners that any Roller Part can help you navigate if you aren't able to slow down and plenty of places for you to run into your opponent or vice versa.
Depending on how you want to do the race, you can either go for the Beam Part and knock Tetsuo back before he can run into you, or use the Shield Part to prevent him from running into youwhen the track crosses.
The Drill Part also works well for speeding up to either run into Tetsuo and knock him out of the way, or keep him from running into you with a jolt of speed.

This course is unlocked after you beat the main mission, Grandma's Cooking, and it's the first Normal difficulty course available to you. Your opponent will be Toroku, and it combines the themes of the previous two courses: battling and obstacles.
Toroku uses the Go Plane No. 1 body and is equipped with both the Boost Part and the Beam Part.
For this one, your best tactic in winning against Toroku is speed. The faster you are and the sooner you can get ahead of him, the less likely he is to use his Beam Part against you, and this will also mean you pick the point gems up first.
You also have one rock obstacle to deal with at the track switch, and a singular jump with a gold gem worth five points, but you can't reach itwithout the Boost Part Plus.
Focus on keeping ahead of Toroku, either shielding or using the Beam Part if he gets close to you, try and take the rock obstacle path for more points, and you'll win out against him in the end.

This one's unlocked after you beat the Thrilling Railway Slalom Course, and it's all about going fast, with a handful of curves to keep you on your toes.
You'll be facing Tamako again, and she's got the Save The Best For Last 002 Body, the Boost Part, and the Drill Part on her trolley, as there's another track switch with two different paths: one with a large rock obstacle, and another without.
Since Tamako doesn't have a Shield Part, you're free to use a Beam Part against her trolley and knock her back.
Each path has six points available, but the rock path has a shorter route through, so you'll want to take that one if you can and avoid getting cut off.
Like always, you'll want to keep ahead of Tamako so you can get the gold gem first, and as long as you don't make too many mistakes or get overtaken, there isn't much to worry about as she doesn't have an offensive part.

This course gets unlocked by beating the Herky-Jerky Speed Course, and you'll be encountering a lot of twists and turns, and managing your speed while dealing with them.
Tetsuo returns with the Ace Jet No. 2 Body, as well as the Roller Part Plus and Boost Part Plus, and this time you won't have any obstacles to deal with, so it's all about taking corners safely and using offensive parts against him.
Since Tetsuo prefers speed, he'll often stumble over corners and end up losing points even though he has the Roller Part Plus.
You'll have more track switches to deal with, and you'll want to take the right path as much as you can; it has a tighter, damaging turn, but far more points to grab than the other.
After the paths meet back up, be careful of Tetsuo coming from behind and hitting you, or else you'll lose ten points. If he does hit you, use your Boost to try and hit him back before he goes around the corner and gets the gold gem at the end first.

Like the course against Toroku, this one is unlocked during the main mission, A Fight You Can't Lose, and you'll have to beat it to continue the story.
It's the first Hard-difficulty course available, and you'll be going up against a Subordinate using an Ace Jet No. 2 trolley with the Beam Plus Part and Boost Plus Part attached to it.
This course introduces upper and lower pathways, with the lower one reachable if you fail to make a jump, and each of them has differing rewards, similar to the normal track switches.
Try to keep to the upper pathway, as it has more points available, and as long as you keep up your speed, you'll be able to make the jumps.
If you opt to bring a Beam Part, you can use it to hit the Subordinate while he's in the air, or before he makes a jump to knock him down to the lower path first.
The issue is the Subordinate's Beam Part Plus, as he'll try and hit you as soon as you're within range of him, often when you're near any of the jumps.
If you went for more defensive options instead, shielding or speeding up can help you avoid the beams, and any type of Boost Part is key for reaching the gold gem at the largest jump near the end.
Do your best to stay ahead of the Subordinate or knock him down to the lower path, make sure to boost and get the gold gem at the final jump near the finish line, and you'll beat him in this race.

Yuta returns with a Save Your Best For Last 002 Body, alongside the Boost Part Plus and Barrier Part Plus, so you'll have to time your Beam Part well or bring the Special Beam Part, as its longer barrage can often outlast his barrier.
The most important jump is near the beginning, and it features a gold gem and two blue gems for 11 points. You'll need the Super Boost Part to get all three if you time it at the very end of the ramp, but the Boost Part Plus can still get the two blue gems at least.

This final trolley course is unlocked by speaking to Discardson at the Large Watchtower, but it only becomes available after beating the final story mission at least once and getting a completion star on your save file.
This course is essentially a Superboss and is the hardest one to beat. Discardson comes with his M-0 Body, alongside the Deluxe Drill Part, Special Beam Part, and Super Boost Part.
He'll use all his parts as much as possible, especially the Special Beam Part, which he'll fire any time you end up within range of him, but thankfully, he doesn't have a Barrier Part, so you can do the same to him.
If you time your own Beam Part and fire slightly before he will, you can cut off Discardson's attack and knock him back at one time.
Getting ahead of Discardson is the key to winning, alongside making him fall to the lower path with fewer points.
You can make Discardson start slower intentionally by starting to slow yourself for a few moments, then speeding up suddenly.
Often, he'll speed ahead of you, and it'll be extremely difficult to catch up and still win, but it's possible to get ahead of him by forcing a slower start.
Use your Boost Part strategically, as most jumps in the course have at least one gold gem to get, and you'll need as many as possible. Try to time it so you get a boost at the end of each jump, and take the rock obstacle path if possible; there are three in a row, but it gives you 18 Points.
If you're having trouble with how often he attacks you, bring the Deluxe Barrier Part and focus on outspeeding him instead by using the slow start strategy.
If Discardson does get ahead of you, try your best to knock him to the lower path with the Special Beam Part. He'll still gain points, but the majority of the gold gems are on the upper path, and they can help you attain a higher score even if he's ahead of you.
It may take a few tries, but with well-timed Beam attacks and getting all the gold gems possible, you can still beat Discardson in the race even if he's ahead of you at times.
