Silent Hill 2 Fan Removes Fog To Make Remake "More Faithful To The HD Collection"
Summary
- Silent Hill 2 Remake modders are already hard at work on making it look more like the infamous HD Collection, for some reason.
- There's a mod that removes all of the fog, completely upending the atmopshere, and another mod that adds back the god-awful Comic Sans ranch sign.
There isn't an easy way to legally play the original Silent Hill 2 unless you're willing to spend upward of $200. So, a lot of latecomers to the series got their start with the HD Collection, which strips away the iconic fog and infamously replaces the ranch sign with Comic Sans.
Nobody, and I mean nobody, prefers the HD Collection... fans actively ward people away from it. But there's a mod that makes the new Bloober Team remake more like Hijinx Studios' old port.
RelatedI Know We're All Excited For Silent Hill 2, But Make Room For Mouthwashing This Halloween
It's hard to imagine horror on par with Silent Hill 2, but Mouthwashing pulls it off, and that's exactly why you should make room for it.
Posts 2 By James LucasTrue to that awful collection, it completely guts the atmosphere, making the town far less unnerving. But it does a pretty good job of showing how photorealistic the remake is, I just wouldn't recommend playing through the game with it. Snap some pretty pics, turn it off, and enjoy the hororr.
You Can Even Bring Back The Comic Sans Sign
Nothing sums up the HD Collection quite like the ranch sign. One of the very first things you see in the game is that farm, so to have giant, bold, bright white lettering in Comic Sans immediately set off alarm bells.
It's such an infamous part of the HD Collection that Bloober Team even included a version of it left to rot out of bounds. This mod unfortunately doesn't bring the sign back, but it's such a core part of the HD Collection, so I recommend picking up this second mod if you're really set on ruining the remake for yourself.
Developed by ToastedShoes, it brings back the Comic Sans ranch sign in all its garish glory. Together with the removed fog, you're golden.
