These good TV shows need reboots so the stories can be reinvented with new faces. This way, a whole new generation of fans can witness what made the original so great while ensuring things are modernized.
8 FlashForward
- Genre: Sci-fi Drama
- Starring: Joseph Fiennes, John Cho, Jack Davenport, Zachary Knighton, Peyton List, Dominic Monaghan, Brían F. O'Byrne, Courtney B. Vance, Sonya Walger, And Christine Woods
- Network: ABC
- Seasons: 1
FlashForward has a unique premise where everyone in the world loses consciousness and sees their future. The FBI team begins an investigation of what happened, how it happened, and whether the event will occur again. During this time, people deal with the aftermath of things they know will happen in their future.
The show was canceled after season one, but the finale was shot before it was known that there would be no season 2. Hence, the season finale showed another FlashForward event happening 20 years in the future, instead of six months. The finale left many questions unanswered, and because a new season won’t happen, the show can be rebooted completely with a new case and a similar storyline.
7 Harper's Island
- Genre: Murder Mystery
- Starring: Elaine Cassidy, Christopher Gorham, Katie Cassidy, Cameron Richardson, Adam Campbell, C.J. Thomason, And Jim Beaver
- Network: ABC
- Seasons: 1
Harper’s Island was the location where a killer murdered multiple people before being subsequently shot by the sheriff. The sheriff’s wife was one of the victims, and he sends his daughter, Abby, to live with family after the event. Abby returns to the island after seven years for a wedding, and the killings restart. Everyone is a suspect, and nobody is safe.
The makers intended for the show to be an anthology series, so a reboot would make perfect sense and could even come from the same maker. Each season would have a different premise and different characters. The show has a large following who want to see it once again. The slasher element mixed with the mystery of the killings made the show fun to watch.
6 Firefly
- Genre: Space Western Drama
- Starring: Nathan Fillion, Gina Torres, Alan Tudyk, Morena Baccarin, Adam Baldwin, Jewel Staite, Sean Maher, Summer Glau, And Ron Glass
- Network: Fox

Firefly follows the lives of the nine people aboard the spaceship, Serenity. The show was canceled before its first season had ended, and while it didn’t see success when it was released, the show has a loyal fanbase that wants it to return. The show's basic premise, the characters, and the unique world are all things in which viewers want to be able to immerse themselves. The show didn’t get a second season, but a movie, Serenity, was released to tie up the loose ends and give fans closure.

PostsThat didn’t stop fans from asking for another season, but the original show is unlikely to come back. A reboot with a stellar cast would be the best, as the previous version’s failure will not loom over them. With a strong story and good visuals, a rebooted version has a good chance of becoming a hit.

Dawson’s Creek was a pioneer in the teen drama genre and paved the way for other shows to follow. The dynamic characters and engaging storylines were some of the biggest highlights of the show. The story follows Dawson and Joey, two platonic best friends whose relationship evolves into something else with time.
The show focuses on teens’ experiences and other elements like grief and mental health. It has earned itself an astounding following of fans who want to get another season that shows where their favorite characters end up. With no new season in sight, a reboot with a more modern setting would likely be more appropriate.

Gilmore Girls tells the story of Rory and the experiences and relationships she builds over the course of the series. The unique relationship between Rory and her mother, Lorelai, is one of the most special things in the show. The show ended with season seven, but a miniseries was released in 2020.

PostsThe miniseries attempted to revive the show but ended on a cliffhanger with Rory repeating Lorelai’s past by announcing her pregnancy. Fans wanted a new season of the show to see what happened to the characters, but the makers wanted an open ending. This is why a reboot would be more appropriate, with new faces telling a similar story.
3 Dark Angel

The show starts with the protagonist running away from the government institution code-named Manticore, along with other genetically enhanced superhumans. Years later, she renamed herself Max Guevara and attempted to live a normal life while searching for her Manticore brothers and sisters.
The premise is interesting, and the characters were dynamic, which is why viewers were hooked on the show. The second season received criticism, and the show was later canceled, but video game adaptations and novels were released, signifying its popularity. With the right storyline and a strong cast, a reboot can work really well.

PostsA reboot would follow the same premise but would need to be modernized because of the time difference. The Freaks and Geeks cliques would also need to be modified according to how kids are in high school now. However, with a modified formula, the show could become a success if done right this time around.
1 Buffy The Vampire Slayer
- Genre: Supernatural Drama
- Starring: Sarah Michelle Gellar, Nicholas Brendon, Alyson Hannigan, Charisma Carpenter, Anthony Stewart Head, David Boreanaz, Seth Green, James Marsters, Marc Blucas, Emma Caulfield, Michelle Trachtenberg, And Amber Benson
- Network: The WB/UBN
- Seasons: 7
Buffy is a slayer with supernatural powers who must fight the forces of evil. She didn’t choose this life for herself but had to accept her fate, as the balance of the world hangs on it. As a slayer, she trains to become better and receives help from the Watchers Council and her friends. The show mixes a coming-of-age element with the supernatural aspect.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer has a massive following, and fans have wanted a new season that gives closure regarding her love life. A spin-off named Angel was released, but it didn’t answer the question, so a reboot with a new star cast may be the best bet for the show.
