Things have begun to feel very real by this point in The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil in Me. You might be down a crew member by now, but either way, you just watched The Groundskeeper meet a gruesome end during the last scene.

Now Charlie and Jamie are off on their own while you follow Kate upstairs as she and Mark get ready to pack up their things. There’s very little action in this scene but big dialogue decisions to make, so follow along with our guide below for help making your dialogue choices.

Like the other three games from The Dark Pictures Anthology, there are many ways your story can deviate based entirely on the choices you’ve been making.

Having so many options means we may miss a small detail or two, but we’ve gone through the game several times to give you the fullest coverage possible.

Kate And Mark’s Conversation

The scene begins with Kate grabbing her “spirit crystal,” which helps calm her in times of stress. Mark razzes her about it, beginning their conversation.

Your decisions during this conversation won’t impact life and death choices for now. But with Mark and Kate rekindling their relationship being an operative part of the game if you’re trying for the Ultimatum Ending (or the trophy for getting them back together), you'll need to be cautious with your dialogue.

For two people who don’t want to talk about their relationship at work, they’re about to do it again. Below are the four dialogue choices you make as Kate and their outcomes.

A Short Exploration

You regain control of Kate again after the conversation has ended. Before leaving the room, grab Kate’s amethyst crystal on your way out.

When you leave the room, the killer has left you with only one way to go. He’s also left you a hint into Kate’s past, revealing that her friend was murdered by a serial killer. The scene is cut short by a noise, after which Kate and Mark see Charlie and Jamie running their way.

Prepare for a QTE as Kate (with Charlie's help from the other side) to try to keep a retracting wall open as the killer attempts to close it. Succeed or fail, the wall will close after a curt warning from Charlie to “get the fuck out any way you can.”
