Now, Charlie finds himself on the run from the murderer once again in this scene, eager to get back to the group of other survivors. And with his life on the line, we’ve got a full guide to the decisions you can make in this scene for you below.
In line with the other games from The Dark Pictures Anthology, The Devil in Me is a game where your decisions truly matter to the ending you’ll get.
And with so many things hidden all around the recreation of the Murder Castle, we’ve played the game several times to offer the most complete series of guides.
Exploring As Charlie
If Charlie died in your playthrough during the Incinerator scene, then this scene will be skipped.
The scene begins with Du’Met checking on the incinerator room, and you take control of Charlie when he crawls back out of the grate after Du’Met leaves.
Go through the door directly in front of you to leave. The area outside is rather open now, so go straight through here until you see a box of mannequin parts blocking a hole in the wall ahead. It’ll be on your left as Charlie approaches.
Move the box of parts and then head into the room past it. Here, you can find this scene’s only collectible secret, the FBI Badge. It’s on the floor beneath the FBI jacket hanging on the wall, which does not count as a collectible.
When you’re ready, leave through the nearby door and into the dark workshop. Use the red light on the back wall to maneuver your way toward the platform from which the light is coming.
Here, you can flip a switch to turn the power back on.
Investigate the area if you’d like, but your ultimate goal is the trash chute. It looks like a small garage door with a bit of a conveyor belt sticking out of it, so head there and push the red button on the wall beside it when you’re ready to proceed.
Charlie’s Second Possible Death – Turn Back Or Hide
Despite what the sign on the wall is telling you, progress the chapter by climbing onto the trash chute conveyor belt. The action begins almost immediately after you do, so be prepared for QTEs ahead.
Below are the possible outcomes for this first action segment.
Succeed at every QTE
Charlie hangs onto the side of the trash chute, out of the way of the crusher.
Fail any of the QTEs
Charlie falls onto the machinery, which is not currently moving.
Once you’ve gotten through the conveyor belt, Du’Met returns and begins using the trash compactor. You’re presented with two major options here: turn back down the conveyor belt, or hide inside the compactor.
Go Back
Du’Met is just outside the compactor and is able to stop Charlie from escaping. Charlie dies.
Hide
Charlie slides under the platform where Du’Met is dumping trash. You’re made to complete a QTE, and two Don’t Move segments.
Succeed at the QTE and both Don’t Move segments.
Du’Met leaves without seeing Charlie. Charlie survives.
Fail either the QTE or either of the Don’t Move segments.
Du’Met spots Charlie and is able to stop him from escaping. Charlie dies.
Regardless of what happens to Charlie, the scene ends once his fate is decided.
