Make Sure To Keep Your Prison Chains In The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered
An Unassuming But Incredibly Important Bit Of Gear
As pointed out by Twitter user spaceghost, one of the most helpful tricks for players new to Oblivion (or even just lapsed fans who haven't visited Cyrodil in a while) is to make sure you keep your prison chains from the game's tutorial. The Wrist Irons might seem unhelpful as a starting bit of gear, but they're actually incredibly helpful since they're the only wrist item (or gauntlet) that can be enchanted.
For those that don't know, enchanting an item applies a special effect or buff to it, which is incredibly helpful no matter what you choose.
If you choose to throw away or sell the Wrist Irons, you'll be missing out on the chance to enchant them, essentially meaning that you won't be able to have an enchanted item in your wrist slot. It's not clear why this is the case, but it's just a quirk of Oblivion that's been kept for the remaster and is something to keep in mind if you want to be as powerful as possible.
A few Oblivion players pointed out that you can get the Wrist Irons in the Shivering Isles (as well as Vile Lair and Mehrunes' Razor), but you're unlikely to access the DLC missions until later in the game, making it far easier to just save the Wrist Irons when you first get them in the tutorial.
