As the ruler of the kingdom in The Elder Scrolls: Castles, you'll need to have plenty of subjects to keep the castle running smoothly. From various work stations that provide food, clothing, oil, and weapons, to soldiers you can send out into the wild to defeat monsters and slay dragons.

These adornments do more than make your castle cozy.
Posts By Drew FergusonYou'll want to have several to choose from, though not every subject will earn a spot in the castle. Here's everything you need to know to get more subjects in your castle, and what you can do with the ones you no longer want. You're the ruler, after all, so the decision is yours.
How To Get More Subjects
Subjects fill the castle and get work done for everyone. While subjects aren't too hard to come by, finding ones that have the best traits can be a challenge. Thankfully, you'll have a chance to pull subjects from packs that can add a bit of diversity to your castle.
You'll have a better chance of getting Epic and Legendary characters from Legendary Packs, but Common Packs can also reward you with Common and Rare castle dwellers.
How To Breed More Subjects
You can also breed more subjects using your existing population. This is the best way to try and select traits for offspring to have, as children have a better chance to inherit their parents' traits.
To have two subjects make a baby, you'll need to have a bedroom available. Assign the desired parents to the room and wait for them to create a child.
Parents can only make one child per day per couple, so take advantage of this!
How To Remove Unwanted Subjects
There's a limit to how many subjects you can have. The soft cap begins around 150 people, depending on your equipment's effectiveness. At 170 people, it's possible for the resource bars at the top to require more Oil and Food than you can contain.
At 200 subjects, the castle is at max capacity.
To make room for more (and hopefully better) subjects, you can banish those you no longer want or need. It's recommended to remove common subjects with undesirable traits like Devious or Envious to make room for higher rarity characters.
Simply select the desired character and drag them over to the left. Drop them over the wall and off the cliff to banish them from the castle. You'll have a chance to confirm this is what you want to do before it's permanent.
You cannot banish children under the age of 16.
While you can banish the elderly, they offer a few rewards after they pass on. Any particularly old subjects may be worth holding onto for a few more days until they pass.
