Also happening in episode two was the assault on Jackson by the infected horde. Hundreds of them descended upon the fortified town, and we got to see some of the defenses that Tommy and the rest of the residents had set up. While the infected did break through, the internal and external defenses managed to prevent the whole town from being wiped out. However, some fans have been discussing how to upgrade them for next time.

Jackson Is Going Medieval

Over on The Last of Us subreddit, one redditor posed the question about how Jackson could improve its defenses. Some answers were evidently jokes – which technically could work – others put on their medieval siege helmets and started discussing defenses.

"For sure pits around the city for any incoming hordes, more than wooden walls, and multiple layers of walls to delay attacks, armed wire in the street if they get in, same for the staircases if you're using the [roofs] for attacking and have no way out," said one comment. "A lot of simple medieval stuff would actually have sufficed."

"I really like this, spiked pits could be really good. That way they can’t put all their weight on the wooden walls. Clean up would be a nightmare though," pointed out another. You could just burn them, and that way you'd have a wall of fire as well. "If only Bill had survived. They could’ve hired him to shore up defenses," someone pointed out.

There were some other comments about machine guns, but they seem to have forgotten that it's an apocalypse.

However, the best answer from the lot was "Probably get some gorillas to patrol the perimeter. I think one gorilla could take down 100 infected." Of course, then you'd be dealing with infected gorillas, but the winter would have probably taken care of that.
