You have myriad abilities at your disposal in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom which go far beyond the echoes our heroine can summon from her magical staff. With Link absent, you can take on a Swordfighter Form, an ethereal blue spectre that overtakes Zelda before it gives her the ability to swing swords, fire arrows, and throw bombs.

It isn’t a form you can take on all the time, however, and is controlled by an energy gauge you will need to keep a careful eye on whenever you are bathing in blue. But throughout Echoes of Wisdom, you will have several opportunities to upgrade this form and become much more powerful. Here’s how to get it done and track down pesky Power Crystals.

How To Upgrade Swordfighter Form

After completing the first major dungeon and emerging back into Hyrule with a cape and new powers, Princess Zelda will be swiftly directed to Lueberry’s house, located to the upper right of Suthorn Village. There is a fast-travel shrine right next to it, so make sure to activate that if you happen to be visiting for the first time.

Lueberry’s Hut will become the core location for a handful of key characters to gather as you progress the narrative, including General Wright and Minister Sadari. You can talk to them to gather information about current rifts and the state of Hyrule, or speak directly with Lueberry to start upgrading your swordfighter form.

During our playthrough, we reached a maximum of Level 4 with all swordfighter form items, and this pace of upgrades seemed to fit nicely alongside the main story.

He will immediately take you over to the handmade machine on the right and ask if you want to upgrade your sword, energy, bow, or bombs. Keep in mind that you will need to have both unlocked the relevant skill and have enough power crystals to level them up. Once you have, head over to the machine, watch as a quick animation plays out, and you will be upgraded.

We would recommend visiting Lueberry’s Hut to upgrade your arsenal after each dungeon or after spending a couple of hours questing across Hyrule, since you will likely have amassed a decent number of crystals at this point that are burning a hole in your pocket. They can’t be used for anything else in Echoes of Wisdom, so it’s best to use them whenever you can.

Where To Find Power Crystals

Power crystals are one of the primary collectibles in Echoes of Wisdom, aside from stamps, rupees, and echoes. You can find them scattered across Hyrule, earn them by finishing up quests, or stumble across them in dungeons big and small.

You can also earn a special accessory by completing the Great Fairy's Request quest, which will make a noise whenever a power crystal is nearby while in dungeons or the open world.

Despite their regularity, though, they are still in short supply, and feel like a valuable asset that shouldn’t be viewed with complacency. Try to spread out your upgrade and evenly put crystals into all of your weapons and energy sources, and look under every single weird-looking rock or hole you find while on your travels. Chances are a crystal awaits beneath.
