Once the dust is settled and you're done building, the next question you might ask is: "Now how do I make it look the best it can be?" That's where design and detailing come into play. Tiny Glade has many ways of adding that little something extra to your build, so it's time to sit back, relax, and start designing.

1 Choose Your Map

It All Starts Here

The very first decision you will make when starting up a build in Tiny Glade is what map you want to build on. While there is no wrong choice, each map offers a different vibe and atmosphere from each other, which will affect your design and aesthetic choices from the get-go.

There are five total maps to choose from: Summer, Autumn, Olden, Flowery, and Winter. It's definitely not something to stress over, but having somewhat of an idea as to what kind of feeling you're looking for can make the choice easier.

2 The Power Of Paths

Walking Around Town

Paths are a very versatile tool in your kit that you should absolutely take advantage of. When you place paths, they can interact with the environment and your buildings in various interesting ways.

When you draw a path up to the side of a building, it automatically creates a door to match the size of your path. A wider path also means a wider door. You can even draw paths underneath a building to create breezeways and pillars, as well as stairs when going to a higher elevation.

3 What Can You Do With Windows?

Window, Window On The Wall

Windows are one of those features that can make or break the look of a home. Not enough windows will make the house look like a concrete box, too many and it can look utterly ridiculous. Fortunately, windows in Tiny Glade are functional and easy to place.

There are multiple styles of windows to choose from, and they all have really distinct looks from each other. You can even combine them to make larger windows and even put them on corners to wrap them around the side of a wall. Even more, they all have different props and accessories you can cycle between to give you your desired look, like clotheslines and shutters.

4 Lighting

Light Up Your World

When things get dark, the only thing you can do is brighten things up by illuminating the area with lanterns and light posts. The tool is simple and easy to understand, but admittedly, it doesn't offer much variety in the types of lights you can place.

Nevertheless, it gets the job done and can really bring your build together, especially at night or if you play on the Olden map. Light posts are placed on regular ground, and they turn into lanterns when placed on buildings or structures.

5 Walls And Roofing

Brickwork Makes The Dream Work

Never overlook the walls of your buildings, as well as the style of your roof. Tiny Glade offers a fair bit of customization on roof trims and shape, as well as allowing you to change the material of your walls to something else for a different feel. You can even remove the roof completely to get a flat, open roof as well, perfect for balconies.

There is also a wall placement tool that can help you build a walled city for a more medieval town look. You can make a castle town, complete with moat, walls, and a lively village to go with it, by using these tools.

6 Use Real Life For Inspiration

Look To Reality

Something you should keep in the back of your mind is that, even if you aren't a natural architect or city planner, you have plenty of examples in the real world to use. Look at photos of houses or aerial views of cities to get an idea on how to build something cohesive.

It might seem a little extra, but you can be surprised by how much inspiration there is in the real world. You can easily see road structures or house styles that way. For the extra dedicated, try checking out more historical records, too.

7 The Time Of Day

Time Flies When You're Having Fun

Another consideration to make is how your build looks at different times of the day. Depending on what time it is, the sun (or lack thereof) can really change your perspective on what you might be missing or can take advantage of in your detailing.

Once it gets dark outside, maybe you realize that you're missing enough lighting in one area that you wouldn't have noticed during the day. Or maybe you decide to make a room in a house in just the right location for sunrise to hit its windows. All are valid choices.

8 Landscaping

Trees, Flowers, And Water

When all is said and done, and you have made the glade of your dreams, the last but most important thing to finish up with is the landscaping. No building, even in real life, is devoid of items like foliage or natural beauty.

Use your tree and flower brushes liberally. Make captivating gardens or groves to really complete that cozy feel. You can even make ponds, lakes, or rivers with the water tool if you're feeling bold enough. Design the ultimate natural paradise and just have fun with it.
