Unknown 9: Awakening - All Letter Locations

Everyone leaves behind something. In Unknown 9: Awakening, there are all sorts of things for you to find: leftover diagrams of advanced technology, remnants of a secret society, and pieces of history left behind by the Sahin. Sometimes it's a bit more mundane, and you just find plain, old handwritten letters.

Unknown 9: Awakening - Best Upgrades To Go For First

Unknown 9: Awakening has a surprisingly big skill tree, but some upgrades are simply better than others.

These can reveal all sorts of information, such as giving you an insight into the world other than what the Ascendants are up to, and how their plans are affecting people. Some are even left by the Ascendants themselves, and they range from sad memories to someone just wanting some cigarettes.

All Letter Locations

You can find 12 different Letters via exploring, but they're limited to appearing in three of the early chapters: Richat Structure, Chamiri, and Quinta Matos.

You can tell the Letters apart from Memos and Dossiers by looking for the red wax stamp that most of them have.

You'll generally find them among Ascendant camps, and you can use acombination of Peekand its Umbric Resonance upgrade to help you find them, as it highlights any nearby collectibles once you unlock them.

How To Find It

Letter 1

Richat Structure

Kill the two Scrappers nearby, then follow the path around to an area surrounded by boxes with a tent, explosives, and several bags of goods. The Letter is on top of a stack of sandbags.

Letter 2

Crawl through the small tunnel with Reika into the camp, then take a right away from the crack in the wall, go up and around onto the ridge with a large tent. The Letter is on the table with a lit lamp next to some shelves.

After disabling the forcefield and killing the Scrappers, go to the tarp-covered area in the bottom left corner of the camp, and the Letter is on the table between a chalkboard and a camera.

Letter 4

Jump over the pit onto the bridge as you get closer to the area where the sandstorm is, then follow Reika down to a ledge with tall grass beneath it. Turn to the right and the Letter is on a table next to an open book.

Letter 5

Chamiri

Go through the locked gate and down the stairs, then take a left before entering the courtyard. Break the crates along the edge, and the Letter is on a large block of stone bricks in the corner.

Letter 6

Chamiri

Jump across onto the flowering vines after killing the Ascendants on the roof, then climb up and take the staircase down into the room. The Letter is on a chest near the vine-covered windows in the corner.

Letter 7

Chamiri

Go across the thin beam connecting the two buildings and climb up the boxes onto the roof. Break the crates in front of the nearby lattice wall, then crawl through and pause before you hop off the ledge. Turn to the right, and the Letter is on the chest to your right.

Letter 8

Chamiri

After defeating the Ascendants in the courtyard, go up the stairs and to the covered area near where the Gunner was and break the crates blocking the nearby doorway. The Letter is in the room on a wooden table in the center of the room.

Letter 9

Quinta Matos

Go up the stairs to the second floor of the manor, then go around the right corner and into the room full of paintings. Turn around and go to the room's corner, then leave through the bathroom and into a bedroom. The Letter is on the desk in the corner of the room, next to a lit lamp.

Letter 10

Quinta Matos

Once the Phantom’s dead and you’ve unlocked the secret bookshelf door, climb up the elevator shaft and go downstairs into the lab area. Stop by the open door and the Letter is on the square table next to the large green fusebox.

Letter 11

Quinta Matos

Kill all the Ascendants in the courtyard once Matos leaves, then go into the greenhouse with Luther once he opens the doors for you. Walk up the left set of stairs and the Letter is on the wooden table next to a potted plant.

Letter 12

Quinta Matos

Head down into the area filled with Ascendants and kill them, then approach the set of stairs blocked off by the Forcefield, and stop just before you reach it. The Letter is on the table in front of it next to a lit lamp.
