Space Marine 2 Players Are Already Disappointed With The New Neo-Volkite Pistol
The Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 community has been quite happy of late. The developers have overhauled most weapons in the game after widespread nerfs saw the game get review bombed. The community even came together to fight off a Hierophant Bio-Titan and even players gatekeeping the Survivor Helm.
As part of season two of Space Marine 2, players received a whole bunch of new goodies, which now includes a new sidearm, the Neo-Volkite pistol, which can be used by Bulwark, Assault, and Vanguard classes in Operations. However, it seems that the linear beam sidearm isn't exactly as effective as players were hoping it would be.
The Neo-Volkite Pistol Isn't As Powerful As Players Hoped
The Neo-Volkite pistol looked like it was going to be the perfect answer for the pesky Zoanthropes, who have been plaguing Space Marines, especially the three classes that it's available to. However, it seems that the continuous beam is not as effective as the devs made it out to be, taking a really long time to bring down Extremis and even Majoris level enemies.
Players aired their grievances over on Reddit, saying the pistol is quite useless, even when completely levelled up. "I've got it to relic now and it still takes forever to down enemies. The plasma pistol is still the best imo, followed by the heavy bolt pistol. I can't even tell if it's better than the standard bolt pistol because it can't instantly headshot Minoris," said one comment.
It seems even if you have three completely levelled Neo-Volkite pistols and aim it at one Extremis level enemy, it takes a really long time to bring down. "Just finished a lethal mission where me and my buddies all have it at relic with the higher damage version. We all aimed at one Zoanthrope and it took f***ing forever to down it," explained another comment.
It seems that Saber Interactive may have to go back to the drawing board on this one. The Neo-Volkite pistol is the first new weapon to come to Space Marine 2, and from the looks of it, hasn't been received too well. On the plus side, the same update has buffed a number of weapons, including the Plasma Incinerator, Bolt Sniper, Occulus Bolt Carbine, Bolt Carbine, and Auto Bolt Rifle.
