Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr is an excellent Action RPG in the famous grimdark sci-fi universe. The game offers many mission types, unique biomes, and horrifying enemies to fight. At the start of the game, it may appear a bit simple, but as you progress through the campaign, you will unlock more complex systems to experiment with.

The game gives you the freedom to create builds for whichever play style you like between three classes. The combat in this game is fast and explosive, offering a wide enemy variety to test your skills. While if you're looking for a challenge, the game has a Tarot Cards system that allows you to customize the difficulty of a missionfor bonus rewards.
Get to Chapter Three
When you start the game, you begin doing the first handful of missions that take place on a ship. Once you finish those missions, you can explore the galaxy and do Side Missions. While Story Missions on the Star Map can have their difficulty levels changed, it isn't really worth making these more difficult. You can play the story at whatever difficulty because Story Missions are not the best way to gain levels and loot.
Although Story Missions have these options, and you can enjoy the game at your own pace, you will want to at least complete Chapter Three as quickly as possible. As you play once you finish this chapter, you will gain access to new characters who will help you develop your build and change the gameplay of Side Missions. These are the missions where you can start to level quickly and get better gear by turning up the difficulty.
Until you complete Chapter Three, you should sell your unused weapons and gear, this is as unlocking perks on Crafting Skill Tree costs Credits.
Unlock And Level Up Your Passives
As you level up your Inquisitor, you can put points into 16 different Passive Skill Trees. At the start of the game, you start with a handful of Passive Skill Trees available to put points into.
Each locked skill tree has a challenge that must be completed before you can put points into them. If you find yourself wanting to change your build keep an eye out in the shop. There is an item in the shop called a Mind Reset that allows you to reallocate your Passive Skill Points.
Level Up Your Attributes
Another essential aspect of your character is Attributes, which are found in the character tab of the menu. There are three different Attribute categories to select from, and they have different names depending on your class. Although they have different names, they generally provide the same bonuses:
- The Red Attribute provides boosts to damage and movement speed.
- The Blue Attribute provides extra defense and resistance.
- The Yellow Attribute is unique to the class.
Attributes function like a progress bar for you to move points into. The more you invest in each trait the better the bonus you get in that category. You unlock Attribute Points as you level up at certain milestones. Also, some equipment can increase your Attribute level in a category.

Pick Your Favorite Class
There are three classes in Inquisitor Martyr. Each of the classes has its unique mechanics and gameplay style. The Crusader, Assassin, and Psyker fill the traditional fantasy role of warrior, rogue, and mage, respectively.
The Crusader has heavy armor and the most health and this class is reliant mainly on weapon skills. The Crusader is the only class that can carry heavy weapons that can clear areas in seconds. However, the Crusader is the slowest class in the game and does not have many options mobility options other than those in its Movement Passive Tree and the Great Axe to move quickly across the map.
The Assassin is a quick and reactive class. It has special blades that will allow you to dash toward enemies. It's also able to play from afar with its ranged Sniper Rifles. The Assassin can dodge-roll out of attacks. If you are playing as an Assassin try to get used to dodging early on as it is a vital part of staying alive considering how little health you have. Your armor is good enough to cover you at the beginning of the game, but at greater difficulties, your armor will do little to save you, so get in the habit of getting out of the way of attacks as early as you can.
Finally, the Psyker the mage of the trio. Although this class can use pistols, you will mostly play this class for its potent spells. The Psyker can select spells from a list under five categories allowing the class to fill many roles. The class has a special meter called Heat that increases the more you use magic. Having max heat does not stop you from using spells, but it does cause adverse effects to happen, such as summoning a Daemon or causing a massive explosion.
Pick the Subclass That Fits Your Play Style
You are also able to select a Subclass once you create a character. Subclasses determine your starting weapons, equipment, and Passive Skills. Different Subclasses unlock weapon types in a different order as you level up. However, you will eventually be able to unlock all weapon types at higher levels. The same goes for Passives, you start with different Passive Skills Trees available, but you can unlock all of them.
The main difference in Subclasses is the unique perks each class gets, these special perks are helpful for that subclass early on. Still, in this game, you can learn every perk, including perks from other classes, by completing Heroic Deeds and playing different characters.
Master Your Weapon And Skills
Combat in Inquisitor Martyr is all about what weapons and gear you equip for your character. Your Weapon Skills, Belt Skill, and Armor Skills determine your loadout in battle, and if you are the Psyker, you can even customize what spells you bring into battle.
For Weapon Skills you have four skills depending on the weapon type. One-handed weapons only have two skills but offer the freedom to use another weapon giving you a total of four skills. It is worth bearing in mind that both Tactical Equipment and Armor Skills have a limited number of uses, but Armor Skills have a rechargeable bar while to gain more Tactical Equipment you have to find supply crates.
You only carry two weapons in your loadout. In general, you should have a plan to deal damage to a group of enemies and way to damage single targets with large health pools, like Elites and Bosses. The game drops a lot of loot so finding the weapons and gear that fit your favorite playstyle is not too challenging initially.

Pay Attention To Your Suppression
Your Suppression Bar above your health bar is one of the most important things to pay attention to in combat. The Suppression Bar has three stages: Green, Yellow, and Red. The lower your Suppression is, the more you can be affected by enemy crowd control effects. At yellow, you can be slowed, but at red, you will be able to be knocked down or stunned.
Elites and Boss enemies also have a Suppression Bar underneath their health, and the same effects apply to them. You should be aware of what skills are able to put crowd control effects on that you can then inflict on these tougher enemies because if you build up their bar enough you can knock them down and prevent them from dealing damage.
Some enemies can quickly take down your Suppression Bar, so investing in gear that reduces suppression rates is essential.
Tarot Cards Offer Great Rewards
Once you complete Chapter Three, you unlock the ability to attach Tarot Cards to Side Missions. Adding Tarot Cards adds bonuses to your mission, depending on which cards you select. You can choose three Tarot cards that can provide bonuses to loot rarity, experience, and other resources.
However, each Tarot card also has a negative effect that gives bonuses to the enemies you face in the mission and increases the difficulty of giving you a debuff. You can also level up your favorite Tarot Cards after collecting a certain amount of the same card and spending credits at the selection screen. You should try only to level up one Tarot Card at a time because it can be pricey the further the level you upgrade.
Tip: If you want to level up faster, the Murder Card is excellent for leveling with the experience boost it provides.
