When you start playing Wavetale, you'll start on a nice little island where you're helping your grandmother get some sparks to keep the gloom away. This calm and peace will quickly be taken away from you as a storm passes by and allows you to meet a shadow friend that Doris doesn't like very much.

You'll embark on a journey to get some power back to your lighthouse, but this will eventually turn into a battle to save the world. In An Inside Job quest, you'll meet Moira and ask her if the seed in your possession can be enough to stop the gloom.

How To Get Inside The Dandelion

Once you get through the conduit and drop into open waters again, the area will be very dark and full of gloom. There's only one way you can follow, and The Dandelion will be waiting for you on the other end. There will be a serpent near the dandelion that won't necessarily attack you just yet.

As you get close, the serpent will throw three striders at you that can be defeated by jumping high above the water and constantly slashing them. While it's not necessary to defeat them, your job will become a lot easier if you do it.

Even from far away, you'll be able to see different electric bars and ring launchers that you can pull yourself to on the serpent's body. You'll be using these to get inside The Dandelion since there's no other way. Start off by pulling yourself to the electric bar on its body.

Follow the path on your right and there'll be a ring launcher above you at the end. Pull yourself up and then pull yourself to a grapple in front quickly. Alternatively, you can simply hover over to the platform in front and then get to the grapple.

The serpent will turn a little when you get to this grapple, and you'll see another pullable grapple on a height. Once you get to the second grapple, there'll be an electric bar waiting for you. On this red platform, take the path on the right side once again to get to another electric bar followed by a ring launcher.

As you get launched, another serpent will spawn near The Dandelion with a ring launcher as shown in the picture above. Follow the path on this serpent and jump on a couple of launchpads to reach the most important ring launchers. When you get through these launchers, the game will have a slow-motion effect.

Use the last three ring launchers on the serpent's body and then one on The Dandelion to get inside the room with the core of the gloom, also known as the final boss.

How To Defeat The Core

When you start the battle with the core, it will look like it has a brain of its own. There are a few different attacks performed during this fight, and you'll have to be on your toes since reaction time is very important if you don't want to lose.

Ground Moving Attack

This is the first attack that you'll have to face while fighting the core, and the boss takes the ground away from you in it. The boss room is divided into four quadrants, and you'll see the quadrant where the boss is standing go red for a second before disappearing.

If you stand in the area where the quadrant disappeared, you'll be dropped in a pool of gloom where you'll constantly take damage. It can be quite hard to get out of this pool once you're in.

As you progress the fight and get to the later phases of the boss, it will start disappearing up to two quadrants at the same time. To avoid this attack, you have to double jump as soon as you see the platform shining red, even if you're in the middle of the quadrant.

Once you're high in the air, use the hover mechanic to get to the ground that the boss moved to and attack it. You have to attack while the quadrant(s) come back because the boss takes away another quadrant quickly after.

Serpent Attack

After you deal enough damage to the core, it will take away two of the quadrant and stay in the area that it took away. During this time, one or two serpents will come up to the windows and start shooting gloom clouds at you. These clouds are short-lived, but they can easily overwhelm you.

When you're getting attacked by the serpents, keep moving around the platform, and don't stand still at one point. If you keep moving and don't go back to the path you took instantly, the gloom clouds will never hit you.

After they're done attacking, the core will come back in the middle but it will still stay far above the ground as it spawns a bunch of gloom monsters. You have to defeat this horde to bring the monster back down so you can start slashing at it again.

Once the core dies, a beautiful cutscene will end the final quest in the game as Moira mentions that they're still far from normal, but it's a start. You'll be in an open world after this where you can go around any region and find any side quest or journals that you missed.
