Updated on November 29, 2022 by Quinton O'Connor: There's no one best gear set in The Witcher 3 — which is good, because it gives us choice! — but there's just cause to find every diagram for every piece of each main category. We've gone through and clarified some instructions here and there in order to promise a swift snag for everything from the Basic Steel Sword to the Grandmaster, well, everything.

Steel Sword

The Ursine Sword's starting damage ranges between 184-224 and gives the player a boost when attacking humans (and the closely-related non-humans). Travel to the Ruined Inn in Skellige and use Aard to reveal a set of stairs against the broken brick wall. Deal with the Wraiths occupying the lower level and loot the chest to collect the diagram.

Silver Sword

With a damage score reaching 345, this Silver Sword is an excellent starting Witcher blade. Head to the Rogne marker and then go north until discovering a tower guarding the mountains ahead.

Wrap around to the other side of the structure dropping into a small area where the skeleton holding the diagram can be found.

Crossbow

Next to the Old Watchtower is a cave tucked away on the shore of the island. As Geralt enters, follow the path on the right which will lead to a small gap. Jump across and the diagram can be snatched up from a skeleton sitting up against the wall.

Armor, Boots, Trousers, And Gauntlets

The diagrams for the remaining four pieces of Bear will take the player on a small journey near the Trail to Yngvar's Fang in Skellige. Following the gap-filled path will lead The White Wolf to the top of the mountain. Go through the door and down the spiral staircase defeating the wraith in the process.

Activating the lever on the wall will open several locked gates containing trapped Wraiths coming to confront Geralt. Enter the first cell on the left, down a hole in the floor. Head through the tunnel and up the stairs following the path up and through the hole in the wall where the chest can be seen in the corner next to the throne.

Enhanced Boots

Beginning at Kaer Murie, head northwest until reaching a cave. Inside just beyond the campfire is where Geralt can pick up the diagram.

Enhanced Armor

Travel to the Grotto marker alongside the shore of Skellige Isles and inside the underwater cave next to the marker. Go deeper through the narrow pathway and follow the trail until reaching the end of the cave where a chest containing the instructions can be found. Simple!

Enhanced Silver Sword

Beginning at the Whale Graveyard, head northwest until finding a destroyed tower. From the entrance, walk inside and down through a hole in the floor. This will lead to a small area containing the chest sitting next to a corpse. Another easy grab.

Enhanced Gauntlets

Go to the Rogne marker and slightly above and to the right is a trail leading to an abandoned watchtower with the diagram stuck inside.

Enhanced Steel Sword

On the island of Kaer Almhult in Skellige is an army of bandits and steel sword's diagram hiding spot. Once the area has been flooded with corpses, walk past the tipped wagon and up the staircase behind it. Directly to the left at the top of the stairs is where the diagram can be looted from the chest.

Enhanced Trousers

Starting at Marlin Coast, either swim or find a boat nearby to cross the water and reach the island above. Enter the underwater cave to find the chest tucked away inside next to a sunken rowboat.
