Summary

  • MachineGames cancelled an unannounced project, which could be a Wolfenstein game.
  • Despite the success of Indiana Jones, MachineGames hasn't announced new projects.

MachineGames was only known for making Wolfenstein games until Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. While there's no question about the success of Indy, doubly so after its PlayStation launch, Wolfenstein fans have been left out in the cold. With Wolfenstein: Youngblood being a disappointment, it's been a while since we've had some fun, Nazi-killing action.

With the success of its first new IP in Indy, fans were hoping that MachineGames might have wanted to reinvigorate the classic series, however the LinkedIn bio of one dev may have shattered those dreams. While no new game was announced, besides a few code words, it seems the studio has quietly cancelled an unannounced project.

An Unannounced Project Has Been Cancelled At MachineGames

As spotted by Timur222 on Twitter, the LinkedIn bio of Ayagaure "Ayi" Sánchez Dieppa, who now works as an artist at Valve, shows that they worked on a "Cancelled unannounced project" at MachineGames between 2022 and 2024. While we don't know what this project could possibly be, the fact that the studio only has two IPs could suggest that it was a Wolfenstein game.

Youngblood unfortunately didn't have the same appeal as previous titles and definitely lacked the charm of B.J. Blazkowicz. If the studio was working on a new game to bring life back to the IP, then the fact that it has been cancelled is bad news for series fans. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has shown that the studio can still make a great game, so hopefully it's not over yet.

There was no Wolfenstein game in the leaked roadmap for Bethesda, but considering the number of code names that were present, it could easily have been one of them too. As for what the studio is up to now, there's been no word besides the PlayStation launch of The Great Circle. Perhaps we'll finally get a new IP from them, but most of us just want a good Wolfenstein game after a long time.
