World of Warcraft is now 20 years old, and with that achievement comes a nearly three-month-long celebration. From the dates of October 22, 2024 to January 6, 2025, there will be a multitude of things to do around the Caverns of Time, including mini-games, running old dungeons and raids, unlocking new and old appearances, mounts, and more.

With so much to do, you might be feeling overwhelmed with all the possibilities; and with an event so short, we are here to make sure that you can do everything it has to offer. Luckily, we've got a guide to help out.

How To Get To The Caverns Of Time

In order to begin the festivities, you must first make your way to the Caverns of Time in Tanaris. This is simple, as there is a portal in both Orgrimmar and Stormwind.

For Horde players, go to the portal room and head down the stairsto the left to find the portal straight ahead. Alliance players, simply head into the portal room and turn right to see it at the end of the hall.

What To Do At The 20 Anniversary Celebration

There are a multitude of things to do and participate in during this event, so we have split it up into categories, all of which can be found around the celebration hub at the Caverns of Time.

Collect And Spend Bronze Celebration Tokens and Timewarped Badges

There are two main currencies for purchasing rewards during this event: Bronze Celebration Tokens and Timewarped Badges. Both can be earned from various quests in the area, as well as a few other sources.

Bronze Celebration Tokens are earned primarily through quests given by NPCs during the event. These will each give two to three tokens, so you will have to do a lot of grinding to get every reward available.

Timewarped Badges are also given as rewards for quests. The primary source, however, is through running Classic Timewalking dungeons, which can be queued for via the Dungeon Finder. Not only will these dungeons give tenTimewarped badgesper boss, but your first dungeon on any character will reward you with 500 badges.

Complete Quests

As mentioned before, there are plenty of quests to do in the area, both daily and weekly. The following quests will give two to three Bronze Celebration tokens:

  • 'The Originals
  • Chromie's Codex
  • An Original Path Through Time
  • A Disturbance Detected: Blackrock Depths
  • Celebrate Good Fun

The following quests, 'A Time To Reflect', 'Soldier of Time',and 'Timely Gate Crashers', will give ten, 100, and 150 Timewarped Badges, respectively.

Participate In Mini-Games

There are three mini-games that are rotated: Story Time, Fashion Frenzy, and Mount Mania. Participating in them doesn't give you any physical rewards, but it is necessary to complete a number of achievements.

Quest

Description

Story Time

This quest begins at the top of each hour and at the half hour mark on the theater stage to the right.

The event is quite simple: Lorewalker Cho will choose between three stories and tell the tale to the audience. Occasionally, an action button will appear to interact with the play in some way. Just sit until the end and react when you can to complete this event.

Fashion Frenzy

This quest is located at the elevated stage to the left of the hub and starts at the first fifteen minutes of the hour.

Once the event starts, the NPC Althaea will announce a theme. Using this theme, you have two minutes to transmog your character to fit the theme, either via a mount with a transmogrifier or the Warpeaver NPC to the right. Once the time is up, grab any ribbon from the small table and use it while clicking on players to choose the best outfit. Once the voting is over, the four winner's outfits will be presented on stage.

Mount Mania

This quest begins at the 45 minutemark at a small, fenced-in area right of the main hub.

When the event starts, the NPC on stage will begin tocall out mounts; if you can match the mount, you get a point. We'd recommend having your Mount Journal open so you can easily access the search option. There are a total of 15 rounds, and the person who matches the most will be deemed the winner at the end.

Run Old Raids And Dungeons

Blackrock Depths makes a return during this event, allowing players to run a scaled version of it on LFR, Normal, and Heroic. You can easily queue for an LFR run by going into Raid Finder, but any difficulties above will require you to find a group either with your guild or on Premade groups.

All of the loot from this dungeon will be for level 80 only, so we recommend you only do it on max characters.

Additionally, all classic dungeons are available for Timewalking and can be queued via Dungeon Finder.

Defeat World Bosses

There are a total of six world bosses scattered across Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdom.

  • Azuregos
  • Lord Kazzak
  • Lethon
  • Emeriss
  • Taerar
  • Ysondre

You can easily locate which ones are up by opening the map and spotting a giant skull symbol in their locations. We recommend teaming up in Premade groups to reliably down the boss.

Unlock Achievements

There are a total of 37 achievements unique to this event, ranging from simply participating in the mini-games to completing hidden questlines given by the NPCs. For an almost complete list, go to the achievements tab, World Events, then click on Anniversary Celebration.

Most importantly, however, is the achievment 'A Cool Twenty Years', which upon completion will give you the Coldflame Tempest Mount. Keep an eye out for an upcoming guide on how exactly to claim this mount for yourself.
